A7: I would like to see teachers differentiate for ALL mathematicians as they meet students where they are & then grow them to meet the expectation, rather than lower the expectation- math is MORE than Computation- it's a MINDSET!! #SynergizeEdu
Q6: Creating technology-infused experiences that support active mathematical learning, educators must first have pedagogical content knowledge and strong understanding of best practices specific to math. Apps that involve virtual manipulatives- Explain Everything #SynergizeEdu
A3: The “best” Teachers ENGAGE students in Math Talk, Focus on MPs, “Productive Struggle” tasks, Real World opportunities and integration to allow students to see that math is everywhere and is so much more than adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. #SynergizeEdu
@slgrosko We send a very mixed message with this at times! Automaticity with math facts and skills is crucial for our mathematicians, but HOW we get them there is KEY! Less focus on memorization without understanding!! NUMBER SENSE/CRA- all the way!! 😀
A5: Math should not have a focus on speed and quick answer finding, but rather thinking deeply, discovering patterns, and making connections. We need to spend our time building STRONG number sense and engaging our mathematicians in tasks promoting the MPs #SynergizeEDU
@MrsFergusonCV@mward33 A Three-Act Task is a whole-group mathematics task consisting of three distinct parts: an engaging and perplexing Act One, an information and solution seeking Act Two, and a solution discussion and solution revealing Act Three. The kiddos love them!! They are now creating them!
