Journalist arrested by Police in West Bengal. No media outrage & condemnation by the pseudo liberal & intellectual brigade, as the said Journalist doesn't have any PFI link.
Chronology of events:-
August 27, 2023 - A news article gets published in the Kharagpur edition of the Anandabazar Patrika, highlighting the menace of Hooch Traders who are operating out of their homes within the residential area of Sanjoal; Ward No. 24 of the Kharagpur Municipality. The article highlighted the efforts made by Smt. Basanti Das and the other ladies of the locality who tried their best to lawfully obstruct the illegal trade which was catering to teenagers and poisoned the environment so much that women weren't feeling safe. They sought help from the Police, local Councillor & Chairperson of the Municipality, but everyone was reluctant to act.
The article created ripples as the inaction of Police & Administration and illegal Hooch business operation within residential area got highlighted. Police detained a few drunkards to contain public outrage but the main operators managed to hide.
The Hooch Traders gheraoed the complainant's home and threatened her of dire consequences if the complaint isn't withdrawn.
August 28, 2023 - The Hooch Traders' relatives lodge a complaint against the complainant and the Journalist who covered the story.
Police springs into action, acknowledges the complaint of the Hooch Traders' relatives and registers FIR under Section 3 (1) (r) (s) of The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
The Journalist; Debmalya Bagchi gets arrested.
I can understand the compulsion of Anandabazar & ABP Media house. Their stoic silence is directly correlated to their dependency on the Ad revenues allocated by the Mamata Banerjee Govt.
Freedom of Press & Police action on Journalism can take a backseat for now.
We are ecstatic to see our Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, co-chairing the ASEAN-India Summit in Jakarta, as he is looking forward to "working with various leaders for making a better planet"...

Today I along with approximately 60 @BJP4Bengal MLAs, would march on to the Raj Bhawan at around 3 pm from the Vidhan Sabha in order to submit a Memorandum to the Hon'ble Governor of West Bengal at 3.30 pm, against the devious attempt made by the State Govt to distort our history, by refusing to recognise the historical events which led to the formation of the State of West Bengal on the 20th of June, 1947.
The Bharatiya Janata Party will vehemently oppose the State Govt's ill willed motive to erase the contribution of Bharat Kesari Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee & disregard the historical facts which necessitated the formation of the State of West Bengal, in order to create a Homeland for the Bengali Hindus.
A throwback to 2007 when, as Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi took a ride in the cockpit of a Bullet Train in Japan, igniting his vision for India's future. Today, that vision is becoming a reality.

I would like to remind the Mamata Banerjee Govt that when the Bengal Legislative Assembly convened on June 20, 1947 to decide the fate of Bengal, as per the procedure laid down by the British Government on 3rd June, 1947 on the subject of India (Transfer of Power); the Majority view was that "the Province of Bengal as a whole" should join a new and a separate Constituent Assembly. In simple words, they wanted "the Province of Bengal as a whole" to transform into a separate Islamic Country.
However the majority view did not prevail and ultimately the decision taken by the Members/Legislators of areas other than Muslim Majority districts (Hindu Legislators); who decided in favour of partition of Bengal and that the new partitioned province to be an integral part of Bharat was duly accepted.
126 Legislators; majorly Muslims voted for a new Islamic Country and 90 Legislators; mostly Hindus voted for partition and creation of West Bengal, which shall be an integral part of Bharat.
It must be noted that all the Muslim Legislators of Undivided Bengal voted in favour of East Pakistan or a separate Muslim majority country.
@MamataOfficial today you are in the majority, that's why you want to erase the history; how West Bengal was formed and under what circumstances. You may have been able to get your resolution passed by 167 votes in your favour today against 62 votes of ours, but I promise you, sooner or later your unethical majoritarian view would be overturned just like it happened in 1947:-
