WWII Veteran and Purple Heart recipient Robert Hilliard:
"Next week I'll be 101 years old. In February 1944 when I was 18 years old I was inducted into the army and what they taught me to do there was to kill people who set up detention camps. Can you imagine how I felt earlier this year when they announced that one of the future detention camps would be at that same camp landing in Florida? We have a fascist, a fascist government, that allows innocent people to be put in detention camps and incarcerated."

🚨Mayor Mamdani just kicked off pool season by jumping in the pool with kids from Harlem.
This is the guy MAGA and Trump are spending all of their energy trying to make voters fear.
It isn’t working.
TWEEPS: A bipartisan housing bill could lower housing costs. trump won't sign it because he wants a voter suppression bill. He "doesn't give a rat's ass" about housing.
I need 1,000 fast RTs and replies using #TrumpsHousingCrisis

NEW YORKERS:
As of 12:00 AM, New York’s law prohibiting most law enforcement officials from wearing masks while carrying out their duties is now in effect.
New Yorkers have a right to know who is exercising law enforcement authority in their communities.
MAJOR NEWS: Mayor Zohran Mamdani has delivered on his signature campaign promise after New York City's Rent Guidelines Board voted 7-1 to approve the first-ever two-year rent freeze in the board's history for roughly 1 million rent-stabilized apartments across the city.
@LuckyCharlie@NYCMayor@nycHealthy@NotifyNYC@helloDCWP Hey, get a load of this idiot who thinks people's health isn't important. You must be a MAGA-T, always speaking (or in this case, typing) without thinking first.
Since Trump doesn't want this portrait of President Obama displayed in the White House, let's make this photo of our President go viral here!
RETWEET if you love @BarackObama!
In powerful remarks at the Grand Opening Celebration of the Obama Presidential Center, @MichelleObama called on Americans to see the good in our neighbors, and to recognize our shared values.
Prince was such a massive fan of THE MUPPETS, he asked if he could host the Muppets Tonight show in 1997, leading to one of the rare instances we saw a more comedic version of himself instead of the quiet and reserved persona fans were used to 😂👏
On June 19, 1865, African American communities in Galveston, Texas, finally learned of their freedom from slavery — two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation took effect.
For 161 years, Juneteenth has been a day of remembrance for the freedom that was delayed. It is also a celebration of the joy and resilience that flourished despite that delay.
The contributions of African Americans, whose struggle for freedom shaped our nation, are immeasurable. Yet too many Black families continue to bear the brunt of an affordability crisis that has pushed them out of the neighborhoods and communities they've built.
True freedom has a tangible impact on daily life: the ability to afford housing, earn a living wage, put food on the table, support a family, and create a future for generations to come.
As we celebrate today, we must recommit ourselves to ensuring this freedom is fully realized.
Happy Juneteenth, New York City.
