Murder is a bailable offence in Ghana. Yet, these people were arrested for standing peacefully and denied bail. The judiciary and the police must be ashamed of this. Thanks to this footage, those of us who thought the protestors were arrested during confrontations with the police have a clearer picture of the situation. It's shameful that since 2017, our civic space has shrunk and continues to shrink under a president who made a name for himself protesting against military regimes and in the Rawlings era of the Fourth Republic when they claimed he wasn't democratic enough. This cannot be the beacon of democracy that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is touting at the UN General Assembly.
