Oklahoma was 17th in the nation for public education. Twenty years of one party in charge, and we’ve fallen to 50th. That’s not a partisan opinion, it’s a fact, and it should bother all of us the same. I’ve spent my time in the legislature working with Republicans who felt the same frustration, because our kids don’t care about party lines, they just need a good school.

As governor, I’ll bring people together to fix this, and I’ll earn your trust one honest step at a time.

Today, July 22nd, is the birthday of Brooks Wilson. He died at 5 in a 2024 accidental shooting in Santaquin, Utah.

Brooks was a happy and adventurous boy. He “wore his heart on his sleeve,” and despite his young age was already a great empathizer and consoler.

Today, July 19th, is the birthday of Larrica Smith. She died at 41 in a 2025 family annihilation in Daphne, Alabama.

Kind, sweet, and quiet, Larrica was remembered by friends, neighbors and coworkers for her beautiful personality.

Today, July 20, is the birthday of Kylie Martinez. She died at 13 in a 2025 domestic shooting in Odessa, TX.

Kylie was the life of the party. Whether making TikToks or blasting Justin Bieber in the car with the windows rolled down, she was full of energy, love, and happiness.

A born leader with an infectious giggle and a "sparkly spirit," she is 1 of 26 taken from the world at Sandy Hook Elementary.

Today, July 18th, is the birthday of Ella Cook. She died at 19 in the 2025 Brown University mass shooting.

Ella was a sophomore at Brown focusing on French, Mathematics & Economics. She was an active church member and a woman of sincere faith.

Rev Daniel Simmons Sr should be 86 today. He is 1 of 9 shot and killed at Mother Emanuel Charleston in 2015.

The shooter was a 21-year-old white supremacist who acquired a gun due to gaps in the background check process.
