"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land."
I wish someone would have explained to me when I was younger what meekness actually means: not lameness, diffidence, or weakness, but simple self-mastery when your blood gets hot. Thomas Aquinas himself says meekness “restrains the onslaught of anger” and “properly mitigates the passion of anger.”
And it's not even like anger is a bad thing. How is a man supposed to respond when he is confronted with wickedness and injustice? He'd better be angry, or he's spiritually disordered ("unreasonable patience" is its own kind of sin). Anger can be a very good thing if it energizes a response to these, and Scripture is pretty clear that God himself gets angry. It's just that our anger cannot rule. And that is precisely what meekness is good for.
Some people like to make it seem as if the Lord is declaring deeply unreasonable things in those words, but there's nothing unreasonable at all. Let good judgment rule, not blind rage.
Entering a place of worship to distrupt and intimidate is a clear violation of Freedom of Religion
It’s a crime no matter how you feel about the pastor
Maybe they should become faithful servants of God rather than the First Amendment that they unfortunately do not understand.
I'm in a deep red part of swing state Pennsylvania, and all the voting machines are broken across this county and the neighboring ones.
People are stranded in line, and a constable told them they don't get the machines working by 10PM, they will turn people away.
I'm not sure what to do.
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
