The facts of history cannot be rewritten; they can only be laid bare to expose the catastrophic eight-year legacy of the Democratic Alliance (DA)-led administration in the City of Tshwane. By their own admission, the DA ran the capital city to the absolute brink of total collapse. Their fiscal mismanagement is perfectly illustrated by their spiralling debt to Eskom, which ballooned from an already staggering R2.2 billion in 2022 to a ruinous R5.8 billion by 2024.

This negligence pushed Eskom’s legal team to take the unprecedented step of attaching the City's bank accounts, freezing the very lifeblood of Tshwane’s public services.

To mask this self-created disaster, the DA weaponised the City’s financial distress as an excuse to shortchange its own workforce. They callously refused to implement agreed-upon salary increases withholding a 3.5% hike from 2021 and a 5.4% increase from 2023 effectively forcing municipal workers to pay the price for executive incompetence.

This was not a standard bureaucratic hurdle, it was a systemic DA collapse. Since taking the helm in October 2024, the new coalition, comprising the ANC, EFF, and ActionSA under Mayor Nasiphi Moya has been forced to clean up the wreckage. In just 18 months, this administration has done what the DA deemed impossible: paying back a massive R2.4 billion to Eskom, restoring financial sanity, and finally honouring the salary increases owed to the City's hardworking employees. The era of excuses is over; the era of accountability and restoration has begun.

VOLUNTEERS LEFT HUNGRY AS ANC GAUTENG'S FACTIONAL POLITICS TAKE THEIR TOLL

Volunteers went out to register voters. Many branches had no data. No food. No support. Some comrades spent the day hungry.

Yet the ANC in Gauteng wants people to believe everything is fine.

The appointment of Tasneem Motara as Provincial Fundraiser is being blamed by many activists as another factional decision while proven grassroots organisers like Andrew Xiporo, who have created economic opportunities for many people and recently established hundreds of community soup kitchens, continue to be overlooked.

This is how movements decline: reward factional loyalty, ignore hard work, neglect volunteers, then wonder why voters walk away.

The ANC is not losing support because of its enemies. It is losing support because of its own decisions.

I choose not to enter a negative space that requires tearing down Nasiphi Moya. True political maturity means we can advocate for our different campaigns with dignity. Let’s respect our differences and keep our inner circle grounded and protected.

Some guys were insulting and attacking Nasiphi some two months ago on Twitter and praising Tlangi Mogale in the same post. She called them to order and asked them to stop. They removed those posts and apologised.

Calls for Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi’s resignation are intensifying following his decision to include the EFF’s Nkululeko Dunga as Finance MEC. Many view this "own goal" as a threat to the ANC’s voter base, especially since both parties are competing for the same demographic. Concerns are mounting that no one is effectively serving the ANC’s interests within either the Government of National Unity (GNU) or the provincial coalition. 

Adding to the tension, a leaked EFF Gauteng statement reportedly threatens violence against ANC members planning to protest or challenge Lesufi’s position. The EFF’s vow to defend Lesufi suggests that if he secures a third term, this controversial and "diabolical" arrangement will likely continue.
