Trouble is brewing inside Safaricom, where employees are unhappy with Chief Human Resources Officer Florence Nyokabi over allegations of unfair treatment, questionable dismissals and an increasingly hostile working environment.
According to insider staff accounts, Safaricom is facing at least 40 employment cases pending before the courts, with potential liabilities estimated at nearly KSh 500 million if the company loses the disputes over illegal and wrongful dismissals.
Some employees further tell me that Nyokabi openly boasts about enjoying the backing of “Peter,” giving the impression that she is untouchable and does not have to answer for controversial decisions affecting employees and their livelihoods.
Staff also point to a reported KSh 5 million court award involving a former senior executive in the consumer division over constitutional rights violations.
Safaricom shareholders should be asking serious questions about how much money the company is spending defending employment disputes, who is responsible for these decisions and whether ordinary employees are paying the price for an HR department operating without sufficient accountability.

Kenyans elect fools and thieves without a second thought.
But when it comes to Edwin Sifuna, all of a sudden we want experience; we want economic policy, bla bla bla....
What experience did Uhuru have?
What use was Ruto's experience as DP for 10 years; how has it benefited us?
It’s actually the other way round Mr. President. There is a reason the right to life and the fundamental freedoms come first in the Bill of Rights. More than anything else we want to live in a free and democratic country because in the dark of the grave where you put Rex Maasai and Albert Ojwang, you can’t see shiny things...~H.E Edwin Sifuna
Shida ya Hawa watu Ni kudhani @edwinsifuna is an ordinary presidential Candidate. They do not understand " made by the people for the people"
