Latest model runs indicate a northward shift in this weekend's storm. As a result, the higher (projected) snow totals have also shifted a bit north as well. Regardless, the area could see significant impacts, especially with bitter cold sticking around for several days after.
Freezing Fog is occurring again across portions of the area & it has become quite dense. A Freezing Fog Advisory is in effect for the northwest/western Piedmont of VA & a Dense Fog Advisory is out for NE NC through 6am. Remain alert for low visibilities & slick roads/surfaces.
A reminder that all fire department agencies in the county are always accepting applications for new members! We will include a link below to submit a application to Blackstone Volunteer Fire Department!

We are watching for a potential winter storm next Wed-Thu. While it's too early for details, the best chance for snow is across the NW portions of the area, with lower chances SE. There is a threat for ice as well across the southern portions of the area. #vawx#ncwx#mdwx
