Toni Morrison said 'When you get these jobs that you have been so brilliantly trained for, just remember that your real job is that if you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else.'
The universe is going to give you the exact same lesson in different versions over again until you master it. This is one of the most single important laws you can learn about the nature of reality. Everything else builds upon this.

Once your intentions for checking someone leave the neighborhood of healing/defense/awareness (seeking apology/acknowledgement/understanding/reconciliation) you hit the territory that is further offense/violation/harm and trying to right a wrong with more wrong. Contradictory AF.
Nobody is completely bad or good, and we all live by different sets of moral/spiritual beliefs. We can’t project our personal feelings of wrong or right doing onto others
(If that worked, 45’s presidential ascension would’ve peaked when he tweeted his announcement)
Whatever the offense itself was, “offensive” is relative. You might feel victimized/wronged but that doesn’t make the person inherently a victimizer, wrong doer, bad person.
Calling someone out when they do wrong is acceptable and healthy behavior depending on how you go about it, but either way it’s smart to consider some things before you call yourself “checking” someone.
