We went from sobbing on the beach to blissfully swinging while in each other’s arms. I swear, the whiplash these two give me, they’re the reason for my neck pain.

Oh, Bison, sweetie, you talk about killing him, but we all know the chances of you actually doing so were slim to none. You may not have said it yet since everything went down, but you love him.

I do like the way this conversation humanized Bison & even Fadel. I’ve seen a lot of people wanting to demonize them along with Kant saying that they’re heartless. Well, there goes that out the window though I think it’s been pretty obvious from the get go. And the way each of them copes fits them. Bison, outwardly colorful & playful going bowling, looking for things that will make him feel happy & alive, the opposite of dark & dead. And Fadel using his hands to create, to make something beautiful & healing, that brings delight to others rather than just death. It makes me love them even more.

I appreciate the way that Kant gently approaches Bison leaving his job as a hitman. There’s no judgment or accusation in his voice, he even compares his own past to Bison’s saying they’re not that different even though stealing cars & killing people are really not comparable. But he works so hard to make sure Bison knows that he sees HIM & his past doesn’t matter, but he wants a better future for him, he deserves one.

It is sad to see Bison’s uncertainty lingering, the question if Kant will truly stay with him. And I think Kant has a brief moment of surprise & evaluation when Bison says he’d have to keep moving, realizing that if he wants Bison, his whole life will change. But just as quickly, he comes to the conclusion that Bison is it for him. Where Bison goes, he goes.

Kant’s response to Bison’s question about Babe bothers me. I’m wondering if there may be something off with the translation because he’s far too glib for someone who has shown time & time again how much his brother means to him. Babe is not just an obligation to him, he loves him. The only thing that truly riled Kant up the entire episode was Bison threatening Babe. So to say Babe’s on his own after graduating & Kant’s lived his life for him long enough makes it seem like he’s resentful which is out of character. Or maybe it was just very poorly worded. I get Kant, I do. He’s raised Babe basically alone it seems, given so much of himself to do so, & now that Babe is almost an adult, it’s time for him to be independent, he already said he wants to go to England, & I’m sure Kant does feel a sense of freedom that he can live for himself once Babe leaves the nest. He can finally be a little bit selfish & want Bison. I just wish all of that was expressed better.

As much as I love where we’re at & that scene was beautiful, I really want to see them have at least one hard conversation. Make out sessions & all are great I’m sure, but communication is a tad more important & I really want these two to get that figured out because there’s a lot still unresolved. The things Bison did, especially forcing Kant into the ocean, Kant’s trauma, Bison’s trauma, all that needs to be unpacked & discussed. I really hope we see that happen.

And, as always, I must close out talking about First & Khaotung’s acting. Their chemistry is everything in this scene. In other actors’ hands it could have been awkward & stilted, but in theirs it was heartfelt & completely natural. Truly, no one matches them. They flow together so effortlessly, it really is like watching art. Guess we’ll see if they leave me a mess of tears next week as well.
