Sat down with the wonderful women of @KollectivoDG to chat all things #Birmingham and #PublicArt! If you like hearing people geek out over things they love, give it a listen! 🪄🏙️🎨
We are back!🎙️Our 6th episode of What Would Jane do? is out! Listen to our conversation with the muralist and urbanist Meghan McCollum about her great work in bringing colour to the city of Birmingham, Alabama. @BlankSpaceBham#womeninurbandesign#urban https://t.co/UChge6xAmU
What an empowering experience for these youth! It’s so important to have opportunities for artistic connection (especially in a time like this.) I’m encouraged to see #art be continually used as a tool of advocacy and affirmation of #community in the human experience.
Honored to have been a part of organizing this special project. You can find our pop art inspired “tin can telephone” contributions to the collaboration towards the center. By @MeghanMccollum, Lydia Walker, Becki Delgado, and the gals of Bendyknees!
Since early June, a handful of local artists have been hard at work on their collaborative mural, hoping to spread love and positivity throughout Birmingham 💖

We took a trip to the mural, located across the street from @ThePizitz, to see their progress 🖌️
Amidst difficult times, #BirminghamAL continues to come together for change and awareness. ✨
Take a visual tour of the murals popping up in our city from local artists like @BlankSpaceBham + in front of iconic structures such as @ALTheatre. 👏

There’s power in SHOWING people how to change instead of just telling them they should. Adapting to diff. ways of living is difficult (esp. in relation to ambiguous new terms!) Love this quick fix popping up in India & across the world! Looks like a good @BlankSpaceBham project!
We love this effort! Like Flint, B’ham is often misinterpreted. Let’s reclaim our narrative & show the world what B’ham is really about! ❤️ Hey @cityofbhamal , let’s work together to use murals to tell the story of our Magic city. We’re ready to work whenever you are 🙌
“People will be out walking and will just see one and stop. They cause interaction. The murals have really brought out the beauty of Flint.” https://t.co/PK2XRWWqKv
Meet the self-appointed “mayor” of Gate City, ‘Cowboy.’ He’s been looking after the neighborhood for 40 years. When I asked what inspires him his answer was simple– “People gotta know somebody cares for them. There ain’t nothing good that comes when people don’t care.”
Sometimes public space interventions can be uncomfortable, especially when they confront the darkest parts of our society. We’re big supporters of the #ChalkBack movement.

.@BlankSpaceBham seeks to reclaim public space through art, strengthening communities as they rally around creativity. Have you seen their newest mural in Woodlawn? https://t.co/QayaHAALls
