That is the SAME THING that the team can do, the NHLPA is never signing away NMCs/NTCs, and they shouldn`t have to, all the verbiage of the NMC/NTC says is that the TEAM can`t move the player, not the player cant ask out

@walsha Would love to see ANYWHERE in ANY NTC/NMC that says the PLAYER can`t ask for a trade. The NTC/NMC says the TEAM CAN`T TRADE the player without permission, BUILD A WINNING TEAM and players will stick around. Why should a player care about the return the team TRADING HIM GETS BACK

This is the biggest non-issue in the NHL. No one forces teams to give out No Move and No Trade Clauses. They are freely negotiated as part of NHL contracts.
