@iamdanielgeske@PringledCheeto@Ian_Fisch@ndsnas The lore in the comics that came with the original toys was completely different than what Filmation came up with for the show. IIRC I had a few picture books that used the original lore as well.
@Ian_Fisch@ndsnas The original idea is that it’s a neutral seat of power, and whoever held the power sword had control of it. Like a PvP objective. The sword was originally in two halves, one came with He Man, one with Skeletor. The completed sword could be inserted to open the gate like a key.
@PunishedHoots I’m a big fan of the British(?) pronunciation of the dinosaur Diplodocus dip-low-DOC-us. Just rings more of a real animal name than diPLOD-o-cuss.
@allowableman2 MotU has the same problem as Age of Sigmar. The setting is so limitless and vaguely defined that it’s hard to connect to. The best modern interpretation of the vaguely surreal space fantasy aesthetic was Outland in Warcraft.
@Brandon072008 First memory of my childhood home was watching the cartoon in the den. Realtor put it on for me. My dad would bring me home a random action figure every week that he bought on the way home from work. I remember getting Buzz Off specifically. I was 5.
@anamaryb I’ll be honest if they had kept updating Disney Infinity and adding VR plus this as an accessory my kids would have goaded me into spending a thousand dollars.
@GrowingUpRetro I mean I’m a little impressed that this one can not only hold popcorn but also other snacks. Some of these things are basically nonfunctional toys.
@TatooineSons I remember most fan speculation at the time was that he was on the island for some greater purpose, to discover something about the Force that would help, or alternatively that he had somehow become trapped there. Iran had many options but he chose disaffected old hermit.
@WNY_Plinker@SCShipyards Furthermore the torpedoes are on the “nose” in front of the cockpit in an X-Wing, only the lasers are on the wings, those aren’t the main weapons.
@MiffedNaba@SimplyShae13 (And since people seem pretty fixated on his ethnicity, it’s worth noting that out of all modern populations, Sardinians have the highest percentage of EEF ancestry).
@grahamhalpin1@mightydudbolt He’s not a good writer but he’s a good idea man. Compare his initial suggestion “someone says a Nazi had it burned into his hand” to the final version where this is revealed by the guy doing a Nazi salute.
