⚠️ Walking to #CanadaDay activities in the Capital? Careful crossing Alex-Taché in Hull as officials have created a dangerous situation detouring pedestrians at unprotected crossing at Prom.d.Portage. @NCC_CCN@ville_gatineau@BelisleFrance 😱#ottawa#gatineau
@supergovernance Well articulated, Michael. You’ve echoed my own thoughts on a lot of issues. I do struggle with the balancing collaboration in-person vs. the current virtual model, and lament that the former may be a bygone. This is especially important in building relationships and trust.
@joeboughner Curious what you learn, but I do think you’re overthinking the parameters re: weight. Particularly for a cargo bike that’s intended to be a workhorse. Saying this with secondhand courier experience in mind (cargo bike loaded with over 100 bottles of wine - no joke).
@thepricesignal Was just reading about Council voting down red revert. Incensed that amber lock programming is underway, but Council said reprogramming red revert would be exorbitant. It’s all a bit much. No wonder voter apathy is on the rise, and folx are increasingly polarized/violent.
Ottawa is becoming unliveable. Each misstep has been annoying, but the acceptance of mediocrity and mistakes is much more than that.
Here’s my realization.
@thepricesignal@TownofNewmarket Hah! How long has that proposal for facilities at Dundonald Park been on the books?! Also, a particularly acute issue for everyone (not just a ‘homeless’ one) given pandemic restrictions and limited access to toilets.
I’d love to read/hear more about family-oriented re-development within urban cores. How do we shift the narrative on “needing” more space, private backyards, or car-centric communities? #onpoli#buildbetter
@thepricesignal While I think suburban cores are likely too ‘young’ for redevelopment, would those towns seize the opportunity to intensify their Main Streets? I’d actual side with Yes. Offhand, can applaud @TownofNewmarket for doing so. Surely there are others.
@thepricesignal Agree; but that could be said about realities now. Current development is subsidized for short(-sighted)-term gains, and longer-term (maintenance and services) costs born by the municipality in the future. Wouldn’t be the same/worse for demalgamated towns?
