@JessicaBhattac2 That’s the frustrating part of being an author now. Maybe giving yourself a set time for marketing and then getting back to Book 3 could help keep it from taking over your writing time.

Writers, describe your main character without telling me:
their age
their appearance
their job
their personality
Give me the version you'd use to make a stranger curious about them.
I'm genuinely curious what everyone comes up with.

You can tell me two characters love each other.
But I'd rather see it.
The inside jokes.
The little arguments.
The way they remember tiny details about each other.
That's what makes relationships believable to me.

Writers, I want to hear about the chapter you almost deleted.

Give me an ending that makes sense for the characters.
If it hurts but feels earned?

What's one thing you wish readers understood about writing a book?
Not the glamorous part.
The frustrating part.
The thing that makes you stare at the same paragraph for twenty minutes.

If I ever give feedback on someone's writing, I don't want it to be:
"This was good."
I'd rather say:
"This moment worked because..."
"This part confused me because..."
"I wanted more of..."
Specific feedback is so much more useful.

@LelaWritesStuff Same, Characters don’t always have to get along, even when they’re on the same side. Sometimes those conflicts make the story much more interesting.

@wcmartell Definitely. Even experienced writers can benefit from going back to the basics sometimes. A strong story still needs to make sense and keep people interested.
