When starting a marketplace, focus on getting more of whichever side is rarest, which is almost always buyers rather than sellers. (If it's sellers, you've discovered a gold mine.)
If you're building something today, ask yourself this:
Are you solving the problem your startup has today, or the one you hope to have six months from now?
If you're new to building startups, you need to hear this.
One of the biggest mistakes early-stage founders make is trying to solve the wrong problems at the wrong stage of their startup.
As I continue building Torexa and studying startups, this has been one of my biggest takeaways. Ambition is important, but sequencing is just as important. The order in which you solve problems can be the difference between sustainable growth and avoidable mistakes.
Before scaling Torexa, I want to validate our assumptions, build sustainable traction, improve user retention, and create a product that can truly differentiate itself in the African digital economy ecosystem.
God help me.
So I learned today that a unicorn is a billion dollar company. Hehe ๐
So I'm building Torexa to become a unicorn.
I am so excited for the journey ahead.
Iโm begging you, never quit as a founder.
Itโs 0 for longer than youโll ever expect. No momentum. Soul-crushing doubts. Nobody seems to care.
Even when it looks like itโs working, itโs not. You keep trying new things. You donโt lose hope.
Then it snaps to 100.
You find the one thing that resonates. You wake up with more customers than you can handle. Everything is breaking. Momentum builds even when you stop pushing.
You didnโt get lucky. You just didnโt leave.
