And of course big thanks to @CBSScottWhite and @CPTowers who always make my job easier. They come ready to go no matter what time we end up recording. And the work they do behind the scenes with the newsletter, rankings, articles and everything in between is second to none.
@dylanxshort Anthopoulos isn't a good enough GM to move any of them without hurting the organization in an equally bad way with whatever he would get back
I really wish I could go into the offseason looking forward to which big addition the Braves will make. Plenty of very interesting names that I'm sure the Braves will come in 3rd on.
There are a lot of inferences you could draw from this, most of them bad, but I've observed that my own kids, soon to be 12 and 9, have shown little interest in toys over the years. And it's not because they're on their devices -- we don't give them those. I've decided it's because (a) they never see toy commercials and (b) their friends don't talk about, smuggle into school or show much interest in toys either.
Don't get your hopes up. Profars back on the books next year, and Yaz still has another year to go. He's not paying for another OF. You'll get Yaz/Profar in LF with Drake/Profar handling the DH duties, because he ain't moving Murph either. We'll be lucky if he adds a #4 tier SP
Feel however you want to about this post, but you really shouldn't gloss over the fact that Fernandez killed people because he was aggressively irresponsible, just because he was an amazing talent. It's a tragedy obviously, but it should be a tragedy we use as a warning.
It's very weird. I essentially came to terms with the Braves being 1 and done the second AA didn't do anything at the deadline to really improve the team. It's made the rest of the season virtually anger free. They're playing exactly like I expect a team with their talent to play
The fact Hurston Waldrep has to have TJ surgery is sickening. There were people in the #Braves organization who thought it was cool that Waldrep threw a 99-mph fastball on February 20. People should have been fired for allowing that to happen. He walked in that next day with elbow pain, and here we are now six months later and that young man needs surgery. Why do pitchers have in their mind that velocity is that important. Ridiculous. Absolutely absurd.
It's amazing Jeff Passan is now trying to backtrack like he never got on air and scolded every other team in MLB saying they could all do what the Dodgers were doing.
It was always bullshit, but you're just going to have to take this one on the chin
1 easy tell that no one is comfortable with where the team is at? The people who *have* to cover for them have been snapping at anyone pointing out problems for weeks now because they don't have an actual counter argument. Shit's sad
People are going to get upset about this take, but it's correct. And it isn't really rare. Many orgs goal is "make the playoffs" not "win a championship". Whenever you hear a GM talk about their biggest concern being sustainability, that's gm speak for this.
@dylanxshort Typical fucking Braves luck. 2 homegrown aces and they both get career changing injuries within their first 3 years in the big leagues. Typical, typical, typical
No, we were taught Communism is bad by watching Communist countries be totalitarian shit holes with incomprehensible body counts *of their own citizenry*, and watching people risk everything for a chance in Capitalist country. Talk to real people instead of your dorky professors
There seems to be some confusion about the trade deadline with guys coming out of the woods to defend AA after a couple of wins, so let's clear something up:
I'm worried about Bryce Elder starting in an elimination game and giving up a crooked number before the Braves offense even steps to the plate, leaving Truist Park feeling more like a funeral home than a playoff atmosphere. I'm worried about having a 3-1 lead on the Dodgers and failing to close it out, then spending the next six months wondering how the Braves would have surely been World Series champions if they hadn't been so hyper-focused on hoarding prospects.
What I'm not worried about is a couple of games in August against the Miami Marlins. So let's save the congratulations for when things really matter. Then we'll know if the Braves made the right decision.
