NO DMS, please. The ultimate cinephile, along with some friends who don’t see as many films. We’ll mostly talk about the movies we’ve seen right after we seethem
Everyone in the cast is bringing their a-game and John powell’s score is in his top 10 of all time for me. The story utilizes the minionese language to the fullest and the subplots are fascinating and fun. Stay through the credits for fun surprises. 10/10
Saw minions and monsters today. It is my favorite film in the minions franchise and despicable me franchise and has some of the best slapstick in the franchise bar none. I was laughing frequently and loudly while still connecting with the film’s gooey beating heart.
Saw Gail daughtry and the celebrity sex pass today. It’s an ok film, not the best romcom I’ve seen and not the worst celebrity culture parody either. I laughed some but not as much as I expected and the main thrust of the story was ok. Every cast member got at least
Saw supergirl today. It is a decent film that feels too generic and doesn’t do enough to make its own mark. You can tell that certain things were cut down in test screenings, particularly krem, and that the budget was not allocated properly(where’s the blondie?).
Saw Leviticus today. It’s an excellent horror film with a really good premise. Felt like a take on it follows that was made for the lgbt+ community. Australia has delivered on their mandatory excellent horror film, something they’ve done for the past 3 years.
The film show how persecution, fear implanted into members of a community by those outside of it and religious dogma that is more exclusionary than inclusive hurts everyone involved. The film’s leads are incredible, especially Joe bird, who delivers in every horror movie he’s in.
Gives him warmth and hope beneath the layers of trauma and pain. Bill skaarsgard’s little John does a good job starting the journey and Jodie comer finishes it with another amazing performance. 7/10
Saw the death of Robin Hood today. It was pretty good and a worthwhile exploration of what happens when the archetypical hero tires of playing their role. Hugh jackman embues Robin Hood with a world weariness that makes his bleak musings understandable, but still
Saw girls like girls today. It is a great coming of age film, but as a lesbian story I did not like it. The fact that they saved the main characters getting together for the post credits scene was infuriating. This film feels 10 years too late, I am tired of accepting
Song choices were very good and the film immerses you in its 2006 setting. I emphasized deeply with coley’s journey. Felt deep pain every time Sonya denied who she was. I’m so over stories of denial, maybe a deeper look into Sonya’s character and personal life could have helped
Shelby rabara was nice to hear as snappy, I hope we get more of her in the future. The story balances tech vs toys very well coming to an expected but welcome message of equality. The film making Jessie the lead character was also a very good choice. 8/10
Saw Toy Story 5 today. It was another fun adventure with all of our favorite toys and introduced some memorable new friends along the way. Conan O’Brien is the most memorable new addition to the cast as smarty pants, a comedic relief whose potty jokes never get old.
Act starts. Colin firth’s antagonist character is dealt with in an underwhelming manner, I expected the wardex group to put up more of a fight in the news room. The alien device also feels like more of a deus ex machina than something that is fully explained. 7/10
Saw disclosure day today. It is another well executed film from Steven Spielberg but to me it doesn’t hold up as one of his top tier sci fi films. Emily blunt absolutely steals the show and John Williams score is as perfect as one would expect from him.
Spielberg’s eye for kinetic action is still as sharp as ever, the moment with the train was breathtaking. Unfortunately, I think this film had one too many characters and that character was Wyatt Russel’s shitty boyfriend, his plot thread gets dropped as soon as the second
