Students participated in a mixed media workshop in Professor Speck's Drawing I (ARTS 1316) class. They practiced using a variety of techniques with a combination of drawing media to create layered imagery.
Sketches are often an important part of the planning stage for a painting. Designing a great layout is key to achieving a nice overall composition. ⭐ 💛 🔑

In beginning painting students learn about color theory, composition, technical brushwork & mediums, visual problem-solving, and how to "see" like an artist. Both art and non-art majors are welcome!

Students often work on drawing still life from observation in Drawing I (ARTS 1316) class. Still life drawing uses objects in an intentional arrangement. These class exercises teach exploration of composition while focusing on elements like form, light, and texture. ✏️
Students have been working on their first project in Professor Speck's Painting I (ARTS 2316) class the last couple of weeks. Project 1 focuses on creating a wide range of values while painting using a "grisaille" technique.

Since the start of the Spring semester, you can find students busy working in the studio classroom on the Bryan campus. Each academic year it is exciting to meet new student artists with so much creativity and talent! 💕

Bryan Art Club officers worked hard last Thursday selling homemade cookies and drawing portraits to help raise money for club art supplies- Nice work! 🎨 👏 💙
The "Creative Collective" (Art Club) members on the Brenham Campus participated in a timed drawing exercise where they did partner portraits. ✏️
