Zuko wasn’t redeemed because he was secretly innocent. He was redeemed because he was guilty, faced it, took accountability, and chose to change. That’s literally what redemption means.
Nostalgia is a disease. Zuko was an active war criminal who burned down indigenous villages because he was throwing a temper tantrum over catching a kid.
A sad backstory doesn't erase terrorism.
Be serious. He doesn’t deserve redemption
Seven Haven “Leak”
According to the "leaks” Korra self-destructs to save the world from cataclysm.
How it happened exactly is not clear
But what do you think?
Aang was losing badly.
Then the Avatar State took over.
Was Aang actually stronger than Ozai, or did the Avatar State simply give him an overwhelming advantage?

Toph invented an entirely new form of bending because someone tried to lock her in a metal box. 😭
Is Toph the greatest bending innovator in Avatar history?
Unpopular opinion:
Toph’s "tough love" teaching method with Aang was terrible pedagogy. Aang wasn't being stubborn,Air and Earth philosophies are literal opposites. Toph didn't adapt to her student; Aang just managed to survive her bullying.
Zuko Alternate Timeline:
If Ozai hadn't challenged Zuko to the Agni Kai and let him sit in the war room, what kind of prince would Zuko have become? Would he have eventually realized the Fire Nation was wrong on his own, or was the banishment the only way he could be redeemed?
If Zuko never got banished, I honestly think he still had it in him to question the Fire Nation eventually. His redemption wasn’t created by exile......it revealed the person he already had the potential to become. 🔥

@AnimeRegent Fr 😭 Mai could love him, but she couldn’t do the inner work for him. Zuko had to unlearn everything he’d been taught and choose who he wanted to become.
@Lyn_orv That’s what makes it so satisfying. Zuko doesn’t get redeemed by pulling one heroic move at the end. We watch him struggle, relapse, take accountability, and gradually become a better person.
