@phtevenstrong The trivialization of totalitarian regimes contributes to weakening resistance against them and thus indirectly accepts the death of their victims. So far, over 100,000 dead Ukrainians and thousands of Russians, starting with Navalny.
@VitalikButerin "Low-risk defi has several nice properties that make it ideal:
It contributes to Ethereum and ETH economically, both by using a large volume of ETH as a collateral asset, and by paying high volumes of transaction fees"
Can you quantify that today and provide future scenarios?
@AndreCronjeTech They would release the original data along with the corresponding hash values. The integrity of the data can be verified by anyone by checking the date of publication of the hash values on the blockchain.
@AndreCronjeTech The original data used to calculate the hash values would be privately stored for future reference, only the hash values are on chain. In case of any accusations of bias or wrongdoing, the proprietary AI operator can prove their innocence.
@VitalikButerin Not quite sure if I get the problem that Vitalik is solving, please help: What is the practical advantage of a stealth address compared to a normal new address that Bob may generate specifically for the purpose of this transaction?
@ChadThoreau Excellent idea to build perps with existing ThorFi primitives. However the current proposal will lead to position the protocol systematically against the market. Short/Long Vault with interest to level the vaults is likely insufficient, depending on the exact mechanism.
DeFi is trustless, but trust is the glue of traditional banking. Bridging the gap from TradFi to DeFi requires trust and reputation - Bankhaus von der Heydt will not remain the only bank to be taken over by crypto. There are 200 more up for grabs in Germany alone.
Bankhaus von der Heydt is to be taken over by Bitcoin Group SE for 14 million Euros. This is slightly less than the 15 million euros of capital that Dietrich von Boetticher, the limited partner of the Bank, has injected into the company since taking it over in 2011.
TradFi has not been a goldmine over the past decade. But Bitcoin Group has acquired: A very valuable customer base, a tradition that dates back to 1754, and a full banking license that costs a million and years to apply for yourself.
@ChadThoreau@THORChain Interestingly, the lending design is not using any Thorchain-specific elements, like e.g. the LP or the cross-chain ability, right? So the same lending design could be implemented by other chains / protocols as well, to their benefit. Why is Thorchain the first and only?
@CindyBiSV @SBF_FTX Good to hear! You may have even done more DD than Softbank, who probably invested just because Sequoia invested too.
It seems that DD time is actually anti-proportional to company size in many case, when it should be proportional to complexity and size.
Softbank: Just made a $100M investment (with early traction and great velocity) on the spot after talking to the founder.
Call me crazy but we do not need due diligence. @SBF_FTX
Just made a $250K pre-seed investment (with early traction and great velocity) on the spot after talking to the founder.
Call me crazy but Iβve done enough research in advance, and had multiple email interactions with the founder too.
