Thanks for the clarification, CZ. We donated MAME to support Giggle Academy’s mission, and we’re glad to see the proceeds being put to good use. Wishing the team continued success in expanding access to free education. 🙏
Here are answers to some of the most common questions we’ve been getting about @GiggleAcademy recent sale of MAME tokens:
1. How much MAME was donated to Giggle Academy?
MAME donated approximately $162,000 worth of MAME to Giggle Academy in support of its mission to provide free education to children around the world.
The donation was made with the intention of supporting the Academy’s educational initiatives.
2. How much did Giggle Academy sell?
Giggle Academy sold its entire MAME allocation, in line with its long-standing practice of converting most donated tokens into BNB near the end of each month to fund its operations and educational programs.
This was not a decision specific to MAME, but rather part of Giggle Academy’s established donation policy.
3. Did MAME expect the tokens to be burned instead?
No.
As CZ (@cz_binance ) explained, when tokens are donated without any prior agreement or contractual obligation, the recipient is under no obligation to act according to the sender’s expectations whether that means burning, holding, or using the tokens in any particular way.
A donation is exactly that: a donation. If a specific action is expected after the transfer, it should be agreed upon beforehand rather than assumed afterward.
4. What is MAME’s position?
MAME fully supports Giggle Academy’s decision.
Our team and the founder @xBrianSumner publicly thanked Giggle Academy for its work and stated he is proud that the donated tokens will help fund educational initiatives that have already reached more than one million children worldwide.
We remain committed to supporting Giggle Academy and its mission to expand access to free education. We’re proud that MAME has been able to contribute to an initiative creating meaningful impact around the world.
@cz_binance@GiggleAcademy Still here, still building. Thanks for this @cz_binance. $TCC is just getting started and will always support those in need 🔸
Thanks for digging this up👇. Thought it was made clear.
I had no communication with the Giggle Team about the recent selling (of donated tokens), but @GiggleAcademy do have a rule-of-thumb to convert/sell most donated tokens to BNB near the end of each month. I don’t manage the address personally.
If you send or donate token to someone’s address, without any prior agreement or contract in place, don’t expect the receiving party to act according to your wishes, such as a burn. That just creates more work for the receiving party, which they have not agreed to do.
If you wish someone to interact by sending them coins, then be ready for that interaction to be a sell.
If you called it a donation, then expect them to use it. You should be ashamed to then say you expected them to burn it. How is that a donation then?
If you donate to @GiggleAcademy, they will sell, and use the proceeds to fund free education for kids all around the world, reaching more than a million kids in less than 2 years.
I support all meme coins. I might even buy (or sell) one or two in the next few weeks to test a few new things. May the best memes win! 🙏
