@JoshYohe_PGH @MarkMaddenX All indications are that most of these decisions are made above Kelly. Seems pretty clear this is all Cherington's philosophy and micromanaging. Kelly and Shelton are unqualified MLB managers. They're just "faces" for the team, taking marching orders.

@MarkMaddenX This is why I have not gotten invested all year. Their philosophy is not to win. It's been clear all year. Pulling pitchers early. Way too many rest days for position players. No urgency. No priority for winning. I hope it costs them the playoffs, and they clean house.

@ASaunders_PGH It felt like if you take out the optics around the 1st pick, round 1-3 were at least ok and reasonable considering team needs. Day 3 was just a mess and made no sense. Just darts at a board. Literally all those picks were reaches or UDFA type guys.

@tsnmike I don’t hate the day 1 and 2 picks. I’m just confused on day 3. They treat it like a throwaway day to just throw darts and random guys that wouldn’t have been drafted by anyone else. Is this normal for all front offices?

@MarkMaddenX Howard had 43 starts over 5 college seasons. He’s 6’4”, 235 lbs and athletic. Won the title at Ohio State. He’s not some hidden star diamond in the rough. He was a 6th rounder, average arm, not accurate. Why are so many fans enamored by him? If Rogers returns, Howard gets cut.
