#OnThisDay in 1912 Duchess Marie Gabrielle in Bavaria died. She was born in 1878 as the daughter of Duke Karl Theodor in Bavaria and Infanta Maria José of Portugal. On 10 July 1900, she married the future Rupprecht, Crown Prince of Bavaria and they had five children together.

Princess Madeleine of Sweden wore her Modern Fringe Tiara and also the Edward VII Ruby Tiara as a necklace. However, the necklace did have a bit of a disappearing act. She wore it for the greeting and into the dining room, as shown in the photo of her sitting with it on, viewed from behind. But when the camera moves around to the other side of the table, it's gone. It's an older piece, so I wonder if the clasp broke or something and they had to retire it for the evening.
