I see I missed a lot of TO tea as I went to sleep.
VLR doesn’t have good communication with TOs, people trying to reach a certain demographic, and a lot more.
Glad I’m not trying to be a TO anymore I understand the frustrations on all ends.
I do though have a lot to say.
I want to thank @mrfunhaver a fair amount as we were trying to run Full Gambit 4 he let us use his software to get a website and payment system set up for free. He 100% did NOT have to do that for some “org” to run a tournament. I genuinely appreciate it. Unfortunately the tournament didn’t get off the ground due to scheduling issues and various other things.
When it comes to this scene and all of the things that comes with it all I hear is people trying to do “content”. Thing is I never see anyone do it. The only place that’s heading in the right direction with that is @Chris26_GG and his project the “The Retake”. I do not believe a T3 tournament though should be all about content as I know there are already tournaments like that such as QoRs creator cup.
The other thing that I have saw is the “development” argument. Sure more free tournaments could be good but at this point as someone who has ran a org and truly cares about players I don’t see the benefit. We have the premier system now and even with its flaws it’s still “free” and it’s “official”. Why do we need anything more. Developing players does NOT equal winning a bunch of tiny tournaments. Developing players is helping them become better inside the game and outside of the game. Helping them with their socials, helping them get in the right headspace, getting people set up with the right nutrition, helping them be better humans grows them. That’s what we should be doing as orgs not throwing them into free tournaments
Focus on content around the tournaments that exist but for your roster. Help your players be the best they can be beyond Valorant and I promise you those players can turn into some dogs.
We had a roster @LazerrFreeks8 and it was our first real roster. They got grouped in Mr. Funahverrs constantly but we were there to help them develop. Got people on the right health regiment, talked with them daily, hyped them up on socials and helped them grow their own brand. Then guess what? THEY MADE DAY 2 AT LAN. That was the most proud I have ever been of any roster we have ever had.
Much love to everyone out there in the TO space. It’s a tough world out there.
