The 2nd annual BHS NHS Chess Tournament had a great turnout! A big thanks to all the schools who participated and all the volunteers that made it such a success.
This week BHS National Honor Society applications opened for all Sophomores and Juniors. To encourage Freshman to consider applying next year and reward them for all their hard work, current members visited classes and handed out doughnuts to freshmen with a 4.6 GPA or higher.

This month NHS members met with admission representatives from Illinois State University, Wesleyan University, Heartland Community College, and senior guidance counselor Mrs. Gardner to learn about the next steps in applying to college and how to pick the best college for them.
BHS NHS had 40 members learn about Midwest Food Bank and then volunteer for 2 hours. Students packaged sun tan lotion and cookie ingredients. Proof that students working together can accomplish a lot.
For our NHS March monthly meeting today we had breakout sessions with advisors from ISU, IWU, and State Farm. In addition, we took a tour of the Raider Resource Room. Students had the chance to ask questions in each small group setting.

Today was our annual "Meet NHS" day at BHS. NHS delivered treat bags to 70 freshmen students who earned a cumulative 4.6 GPA or higher for first semester. Keep up the academic excellence Class of 2020!
BHS NHS decorated 250+ sugar cookies (holiday style) today that will be delivered to local shut-ins and various charitable organizations tomorrow after school! Lots of commitment and fun!
The totals are in. BHS NHS helped New Star Enterprises raise a record $881 on Saturday at the Craft Show. The profits help developmentally disable adults. Great Job NHS!
