🐾💔 Nala is just a 10-month-old puppy who was surrendered for accidentally scratching someone while jumping up to play. Now she’s at risk to be killed.

This sweet, wiggly girl is super social, active, and excitable. She previously lived with kids, dogs, and cats and has earned the 2nd best behavior rating. She loves attention and is still learning her manners.

Nala can be mouthy and jumpy when excited, pulls on the leash, and gets anxious when left alone because she's still a puppy. She needs an experienced home with patience and structure to help her grow into a wonderful companion.

She deserves so much better than being given up over normal puppy behavior.

After spending nearly his entire life in a home, 11-year-old Beau has found himself back at our Adoption Center through no fault of his own. When his family moved and couldn't take him with them, everything he had ever known disappeared. 🥺

Now, instead of a quiet couch and familiar faces, Beau is spending his golden years surrounded by barking dogs, unfamiliar people, and the constant noise of shelter life. It's heartbreaking... because this is not where a senior dog should have to start over.

Beau is a sweet, silver-faced Labrador mix who deserves so much more than a kennel. He's housebroken, knows his basic cues, and never says no to a tasty treat. He's looking for an adults-only home where he can be your one and only pet - a place where he can finally exhale, settle in, and simply be loved for exactly who he is. After 11 years, we don't think it's fair to ask Beau to become someone he's not. Now 3 years old, this sweet Terrier mix has been through more change than any dog should. After making the long journey from Antigua and being adopted as a puppy, Cooper thought he had found his forever. But when he was sadly surrendered, everything he knew was turned upside down. 💔

Shelter life hasn’t been easy for him, but day by day, Cooper is finding his footing again. With the help of our team, he’s rebuilding his confidence and starting to show us the gentle, loving dog we know he is.

Cooper would do best in a patient, experienced home with adults only who can help him continue to grow and feel secure. He enjoys the company of other dogs, too, so a canine companion could be a great match.

He’s come so far, but his real journey begins with a family to call his own.

I'm four years old, I'm a Shepherd mix, and I've been waiting a really long time for my forever person.
A few years ago, I made my way here from Louisiana. New people can make me a little nervous, so I like to take things slow. But here's a secret: if you come bearing treats, we're already off to a great start. 😉🍖

Give me a little patience, a few snacks, and some kindness, and I'll show you who I really am - a loyal, playful, goofy guy who just wants someone to love.

Right now, the hustle and bustle of the adoption center is a bit overwhelming for me, so I'm hanging out in one of the offices with some pretty awesome staff members who make me feel safe and comfortable. They've seen the real me, and they know I have so much love to give.

My dream home? I'd love to be your one and only pet, with older children, an experienced adopter who understands dogs like me, and a fully fenced yard where I can run, play, and finally exhale.

Five-year-old Ophelio’s (#BF4844) rescue story began during the worst winter storm of the season when a kindhearted homeowner opened her door to check the snow accumulation—only to have him dash inside in search of warmth. 🐾 That chance encounter changed everything. After years of fending for himself, Ophelio is now enjoying the comforts of indoor life: a cozy bed all his own, regular meals, and plenty of ear rubs from his adoring caretakers. This cheeky gentleman has embraced the upgrade wholeheartedly. Our veterinary team has helped him get back on track and developed a plan to manage his heart condition, with care covered at cost through our Pet Health Centers. He’s also FIV+, a reminder of his days spent navigating the outdoors—but one that certainly doesn’t slow him down. Now Ophelio is looking for an experienced family with older children who can offer him the love, comfort, and stability he’s waited so long to find. His days in the cold are behind him. For 7 years, Ikey #PM8707 lived a life that left him with more questions than confidence.

When this sweet little Shih Tzu arrived to us from a commercial breeding facility, it was clear he had been through far more than any dog should. Beneath his soft coat and gentle eyes were medical conditions that needed immediate attention... likely issues that had gone untreated for quite some time. 🥺

He had several masses removed from his back, thankfully all benign. During his first dental procedure, our veterinary team discovered moderate dental disease that required extractions. He was also diagnosed with a heart murmur caused by an incompetent mitral valve, and his future cardiac care will be available at low cost through our Pet Health Centers in Port Washington, NY.

But the deepest wounds aren’t physical.

Ikey is extremely shut down emotionally. He wants to feel safe, but he simply doesn’t know how yet. New environments, sudden movements, unfamiliar people - the world can feel overwhelming for a dog who has not had much opportunity to experience kindness, stability, and patience.

What Ikey needs most is someone willing to move at his pace.

A quiet home. A fully fenced yard where he can safely build confidence. No city or urban living. Children 16+ due to his fearful nature. Every ounce of trust with Ikey will be earned slowly, gently, and with compassion.

A friendly, confident canine companion could help him tremendously, though it’s not required.

And despite everything, Ikey remains sweet.

There’s something incredibly heartbreaking about a dog who has likely never truly been allowed to just be a dog. No expectations. No pressure. Just safety, softness, and love.💔
