@MiguelDelaney@CJohnCC Hydrocarbon states and soft power distorting football. Yet your employer The Independent has held a 30% stake from Saudi investor Sultan Muhammad Abuljadayel with ties to state linked banks. Soft power unacceptable in football, but fine when it funds your own paper ?Hypocrite
@MiguelDelaney@RichieCo79 You don't though. You spend time writing scathing hit pieces on state backed sportswashing in football. Submit them to The Independent, where a Saudi state backed banker owns a 30% stake, collect your wages then lecture fans about ethics and integrity.
Couldn't make it up.
Lampard & Silva - relatively young managers when they coached us - who have had success elsewhere now, suffered badly at Everton too.
Ancelotti is older than Moyes, a serial winner & only managed 10th with the largest wage bill we ever had (even larger than now).
His squad was much better than ours is now.
People can deride Moyes all they want, but they cannot deny our deep seated problems. We have a very poor squad (still), especially in defence, and hollowed out our squad & academy to overcome PSR.
Whether its Moyes or another manager, patience will be needed. Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Villa, Brighton, Brentford have all had multiple windows of heavy expenditure over the last 3 years.
Since Carlo left in 2021, we have only had 1 window where we spent a decent amount.
@JezClein@CitizenSuburbia@jrose100 For City's 2nd, Keane or Tarky has to track the runner, for Van Dijks goal Tarky has to win the header u cant blame the manager not changing the midfielders for those goals. Players need to take responsibility for tracking runners and winning duals.
@Yama_vole@Formbyblue@Everton Did i ? I said u need to spend every season just to stand still, we havent been spending for years, sold our best players to keep the lights on so have regressed and the first year we spend £120m fans think we should be in Europe even though we are miles behind other clubs
@Yama_vole@Formbyblue@Everton That is net spend in 1 year, look at the last 5 years then compare their 'net' spend to ours they have spent 10 times more than us in net spend terms in that time. Thats why their squad have players to now sell. We are starting on that model. Whats the point ur trying to make ?
@EfcBlues67552@Benjwinst@78Blue18 We will see how it all plays out, im optimistic but we really need to focus on growing our revenue which TFG have been doing the wagebill is more manageable now so there are no reasons or 'excuses' why we cant push on and overtake some of the clubs we are currently behind
@EfcBlues67552@Benjwinst@78Blue18 I agree its not ideal but the alternative is to let them go for free and then have to sign 3 new players and we have other areas we need to focus on just now and not enough headroom to totally transform the squad so its pick ur poison. Its where we are as a club just now
@EfcBlues67552@Benjwinst@78Blue18 Its fine i dont take it personally but we had a go under Moshiri and we fucked it up. We now have to deal with the consequences of that in a 'financial regulation' era, there is no quick fix, we have to get on a stable footing with a clean slate and try again but it takes time
@Benjwinst@1878_michael@78Blue18 Thats what we are doing but within the constraints of the mess Moshiri left us in. Make the club financially stable, put the structures in place to recruit players for now and some younger players for the future with sell on value but it was never going to be fixed in 1 summer
@EfcBlues67552@Benjwinst@78Blue18 We can all have a different opinion and that is fine but to say fans who have a bit more patience and knew it would take more than 1 summer window to fix deserve or are complicit in the 'mediocrity' is just nonsense...
@EfcBlues67552@Benjwinst@78Blue18 Time will tell, but TFG have put hundreds of millions into Everton to make them a lot more financial stable and are trying to put structures in place for a better Everton going forward, that isnt even up for debate, but we will see if it pays off as there are no guarantees in PL
@1878_michael@Benjwinst@78Blue18 We literally also had loads of players leave last summer because we are still dealing with the mess Moshiri left but Benj thinks we have been 'stable' on the pitch for 3 years and on pitch and off pitch arent connected......
@EfcBlues67552@Benjwinst@78Blue18 No it doesnt, the fans want us to be challenging but the reality is Moshiri had all the money but no idea so listened to the wrong people spent hundreds of millions trying, sacked managers regularly but ultimately failed and ruined the club. TFG are not going to do it that way.
@EfcBlues67552@Benjwinst@78Blue18 Couldn't get rid of alot of those players because they sat there on high wages and left for free leaving the club in the mud with no PSR headroom and no sellable assets. It is exactly what we are trying to fix now.....
