This is absolutely the right move. Getting embarrassed in a bowl game against BYU would be really hard on the program. Much smarter to avoid playing tough teams so you can keep your brand intact.

My biggest beef with the playoff and BYU is that they weren't even a part of the discussion...AGAIN. The last two years, their resume absolutely deserved inclusion in every debate about the last spot. It was a united effort by ESPN, etc, to push them out of the discussion.
