Chelsea’s statement sounds like a bitter ex has written it. If they really cared about “protecting the badge,” they’d have listened to the advice from Maresca and the previous three coaches about their project.
He became tired of them like every other BlueCo. coach.
Corniest statement I’ve ever read.
Completely devoid of any responsibility or accountability, and blames it all on Enzo.
Ask yourself: WHY was Maresca’s head turned towards City?
Because the board weren’t backing him and he clearly saw a limit to where he could take us.
🚨⚠️ OFFICIAL: Chelsea statement on Enzo Maresca.
“Chelsea FC appreciates the 2025/26 season was a hugely disappointing one for the Club and its supporters. A major contributing factor was the disruption caused as a result of changes that the Club was forced to make to the Head Coach position over the Christmas period”.
“Due to recent developments, we consider that it is important to explain to our supporters what happened and why our former Head Coach left the Club on 1 January 2026”.
“In Autumn last year, the Club was informed by our former Head Coach that there might be an opportunity for him to succeed Pep Guardiola at the end of the season”.
“It became clear to us that it was his strong desire to succeed Guardiola and that he was fully committed to pursuing the opportunity, despite the fact he was under a long-term contract which he had no right to terminate”.
“In December 2025, our Head Coach unexpectedly and abruptly resigned from his position. Obviously, we felt let down as we believed that his head and heart were focused on another club and another opportunity, despite having just arrived at Chelsea the year before”.
“No club wants to change its head coach midway through a season. However, in light of his decision not to continue fulfilling his responsibilities through to the end of the season, the Club was left with no choice but to protect our players, our supporters, and the Badge and accept his resignation”.
“In the circumstances and given the mutual respect between clubs, a confidential settlement has been reached with Manchester City, which includes the payment of compensation. A confidential settlement has also been reached with the former Head Coach under which he will pay compensation”.
This is why understandably we are not the Chelsea of a decade ago.
Players will use us as a stepping stone for teams that actually compete for titles & UCL.
If Enzo Fernandez forces a move to Real Madrid, I won't be angry with him at all. He forces a move to Chelsea, be boycotted training and handed in a transfer request at Benfica to make sure the move went through and he was also a fan favourite in Benfica.
Chelsea was bigger than Benfica and Real Madrid is bigger than Chelsea. He is earning more in Chelsea than when he was in Benfica and he will earn more if he move to Real Madrid, this is football, no permanent friend, no permanent enemy.
Really glad Paul Winstanley and Lawrence Stewart didn’t sign the best player in the world because he wanted more than £50k a week but signed Pedro Neto.
Watching Olise every week is gonna be 100x more painful than Salah and KDB.
Guys treating Cucurella like he’s some scrub doesn’t sit right with me when he’s been clutch on numerous occasions and under Maresca he’s been one of the best lb’s in the world and judging him on our worst season and under rosenior is unfair
To everyone that’s okay/happy with Cucurella leaving, do you think Arsenal or City would let one of their most senior players and starting left back leave for £43m?
No they wouldn’t because they’re serious clubs who are serious about winning titles, Chelsea are not. You should be furious
From the bottom of my heart, I'm so happy for Cucurella. Didn't believe in this incompetent Chelsea ownership much like many of us and have joined an elite football club. Said his truth about Chelsea in the last international break and I thank him for that!!
I don’t think this is about sabotage or being a saint. It’s the reality in modern football-loyalty only to self. Maresca did what was right for Maresca. As soon as he got the confirmation that he’d been handpicked by Pep to be his replacement, he walked away, effectively terminating his contract. And no, I am not a Maresca fan…it was already falling apart under him.
🇫🇷 PARÍS HA CAIDO
Tras la obtención de la Champions League por parte del PSG, París se ha convertido en zona de guerra.
Acá vemos las consecuencias de la cobardía de los líderes europeos.
They won the Premier League after 22 years and even BBC made an article yesterday showcasing all of the fraudulent decisions that went their way.
They tried to cheat their way to their first ever Champions League in their existence and it was one of their most cockiest players that fucked it all up.
I love this game.
The issue I have with that Saka handball is we’ve seen penalties given for so much less in this years Champions League. Anywhere on the pitch that gets given a free kick. The inconsistencies in football is honestly embarrassing
I’m sick and tired of these “big” Chelsea accounts disrespecting Enzo Fernandez. He has been our best player this season, our most consistent over the past 3 seasons, has been our most vocal captain as well. Yet you still choose to leave him out of the MUST KEEPS! Shameless!
