Iโve been sitting with this thought for days now, and honestly, itโs been tearing me apart from the inside out.
I forced myself into the darkest corner of my mind. I tried to imagine being in their shoes pouring all my devotion into that group, genuinely and deeply convinced that Carats were evil, that they hated the people I loved. I tried to imagine a version of myself who felt no love for Seventeen at all. A version of me who had convinced herself that they were jealous, bitter, undeserving of sympathy.
And then I asked myself:
What would I actually do seeing Hoshiโs body give out?
What would I do seeing Wonwoo lose his mother?
What would I do watching Seungkwan have to learn how to keep standing after losing Moonbin?
What would I do seeing Dokyeom cry during his live before enlisting, knowing that he was about to leave the people and life he loved behind?
Would I really be capable of looking at those moments and thinking, โThis is a good opportunity to win a fanwarโ?
I hate myself for even having to try to rationalize it. But I needed to understand where that kind of cruelty comes from.
And the truth is, no matter how hard I tried to manufacture that bitterness inside myself, I couldnโt get there.
My soul simply wouldnโt let me.
Because I know what real loss feels like.
I know what it means to sit in a room and instinctively look toward the place where someone used to be.
I know the unbearable silence of realizing that the person you keep expecting to walk through the door never will.
I know the kind of grief that doesnโt just break your heart, it changes the way you breathe, the way you sleep, the way you look at ordinary things for the rest of your life.
And once you have known that kind of pain, something inside you changes.
You understand that behind every screen, every stage, every photograph, every name people argue over online, there is a human being.
Someoneโs child.
Someoneโs sibling.
Someoneโs best friend.
Someone who has been loved quietly, long before millions of strangers ever learned their name.
So how do you look at a motherโs death and turn it into ammunition?
How do you look at a boy losing his best friend and turn his grief into a joke?
How do you look at someone crying because they are about to leave their loved ones behind and turn those tears into a meme?
How do you look at someoneโs body breaking down in pain and decide that their suffering is somehow useful to you?
For a stupid fanwar.
How far must someoneโs heart have hardened for another human beingโs tragedy to become a punchline?
And this is the part I cannot understand.
If loving an artist ever turned me into someone who could mock death, spit on another personโs tears, or laugh at a family falling apart, I would want someone to stop me.
I would want someone to pull me back.
Because I would rather lose a fandom than lose the part of myself that still knows how to feel another personโs pain.
Because if your love for an artist requires you to celebrate someone elseโs grief, that isnโt love.
That isnโt fandom.
That is simply a rotting hollow where a heart used to be.
A celebrityโs influence is not measured by how often they tell their fans to โbe kind,โ but by the culture they create. If your fans repeatedly weaponise your name to harass, insult, and bully others, it is hard to see you as an effective positive influence.
i dont have the energy to fight anyone or argue, i dont understand how so many ppl can be like this and no you can never show me tweets from carats getting this many likes wishing harm on any artists.
this is a big account btw, you cant say ure โreturning the energyโ
he will get better. he will never stop doing what he loves bcs the world gives back to those deserving of it. no matter what, hoshi will get through this bcs the world is destined to be in his hands. take all the time that you need, hoshi !!!! :โ)) โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
I honestly donโt care if people drag me for this, and I couldn't care less that he was technically "cleared" legally. The law is the bare minimum for legality, not a baseline for ethics.
We are talking about an event where rookie groups like Hearts2Hearts, KiiKii, RESCENE, and so many others are sharing the exact same backstage, tables, and stage, groups that literally have minors in them. Having someone with that history in the same enclosed environment with underage artists is beyond tone-deaf.
The blatant disregard for safeguarding and power dynamics in this industry will never stop disgusting me.
Some extremely controversial takes as a Horangdan. Iโve kept these thoughts to myself for way too long.
Reminder:
These are MY opinions, not universal facts. If they bother u that much, simply disagree & move on. I ainโt arguing with anyone.
