@mugnoma With the addition of Dorafeyev, do they really need to trade Trocheck? He was their best player in the ECF playoff run only 2 years ago. He's 5 years years younger than the Conn Smyth winner & he's on an amazing contract. Unless Drury gets an offer he can't refuse, I'd keep him.
@kellynj512 NYR beat writers need to cool it w/ full rebuild b.s.. it never made sense w/this group & full rebuilds rarely work. Keep Trocheck. Not sure why they traded Carrick, but if they can add a top 4 dman & a 4c, they could be buyers at the deadline & possibly compete this year.
@vzmercogliano Drury's silence,(& incompetence particularly when he sells assets), has left a void. You & others are filling it with this stuff & giving Drury an out; an excuse to be bad. & even if he goes full rebuild, they wouldn't completely bottom out w/31 & 23 & many others.
@vzmercogliano This is supposed to be fun. What you're proposing is what people in Detroit have experienced since Yzerman took over. It's the reason Larkin wants out & while I understand DET fans' frustration, I get what he's saying. Full rebuilds may sound prudent, but they rarely work.
@vzmercogliano Key injuries devastated last year. As soon as Panarin was gone, you decided the team is doomed to a full rebuild. Who's the last team that won with that formula of just drafting & developing? PIT & CHI got incredibly lucky. No reason to trade Trocheck. Zito wouldn't.
@Zeusmtl94@BaldPanarin Agree, but if that's the plan I don't get Drury's timeline for when he plans to compete. Shestyerkin, Fox, Zibanejad, Miller, Gavrikov, Trocheck. These guys would be wasted & Drury's not getting a haul for the guys w/NMC's. We're all frustrated because we don't see a plan yet.
@Zeusmtl94@BaldPanarin 💯 %. And if they could add even 1 more significant piece in the next week & thrive, they could add at the deadline. Deadline adds,(not including adding an injured Patrick Kane in 23), have actually been a relative strength for Drury,(particularly in 22 & 24).
@Zeusmtl94@BaldPanarin This makes sense. Currently have Vezina & Norris winners in their prime. Robertson would fill a huge void. Would still need an LD2, but could begin to reverse all this "no one wants to come to NYR" nonsense & compete instead of the aimless 10 yr rebuild people seem to want.
@kellynj512 Beat writers all insisting he do a full rebuild are doing Drury a favor with a built in excuse. Waste Vezina & Norris winners in their prime. Waste guys w/valuable playoff experience. Drury does nothing. Smiles. "Full rebuild!" SMH.
@vzmercogliano When will it be "the right time?" When Shestyerkin & Fox are decrepit? You know that what's left of the older players have NMC's. You say yourself the return on Trocheck won't be great, but we need to sell? When can we expect to compete? 5? 10 years? SMH. Zito would laugh.
@RLavoieTVA@Senators NYR weren't even one of the 4 teams he allegedly considered. I would have assumed that ownership wouldn't have allowed trading him to the NYR after the "soft tampering" allegations. Whether there was or wasn't, he was never going to the NYR. But way to change the subject. Lol.
@nohopeleague Which is why Drury should never be allowed to trade away an asset. Hasn't Blais, Urho, Terrance, Morrow, taught us anything? Whether it is or not, Drury treats selling as a salary dump.
