The collapse of public order most critically threatens the social well-being of the poor and the weak — that is, those who can’t afford to move away from the violence and those who can’t defend themselves from it. Isolation results.
That one mutual you thought disappeared 6 months ago so you go and check his profile and nope.
He's still here, still posting, but for whatever reason has been banished from your feed forever, never to appear on your timeline again.
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Father Mark A. Moore, pastor of Christ the King University Parish and St. Paul Parish, Athens; Holy Cross Parish, Glouster; and Sacred Heart Parish, Pomeroy; who died June 3 at the age of 49.
My (Baptist) dad was totally astonished when I told him about the English dissolution of the monasteries. Protestantism became the religion normal, decent people practice and those without their heads in history don’t realize how insane the wars of religion were
A historical fact that gets lost often is that the Protestants originally were every bit as revolutionary as the Bolsheviks. The Reformation was the greatest wealth transfer from religious institutions to secular authorities ever and every bit as violent as the Russian Revolution
@Italofiend Please talk to someone about this, even me if you want.
Keep going until you’re on the other end, I never realized how much my mental health played tricks on me until I got through it and went back and read my old journals. I’m glad I stuck it out now. I hope you will, too!
Why are we like this? I wish I cared about having a spectacular lawn. I can appreciate a good lawn, and I make myself keep it respectable, but I can’t find the desire to have an excellent lawn.
This is something I never wanted to post. My mom has been battling cancer since Christmas, and our family was informed yesterday it’s now moved to the base of her skull behind her brain stem, stage 4. She was told yesterday she’s dying… if you pray, and would be so kind, pray for her not to suffer too badly. I feel like this is a dream. I want to wake up. Her name is Sheryl. My heart aches
@hcab3271 Certainly, I’ll continue to enjoy Baroque & Romantic! But they seem easier to appreciate, if that makes sense. I’d like to refine my tastes such that I can enjoy subtler music.
I enjoy Baroque & Romantic music of themselves, but Classical is proving a tougher nut to crack. Does anybody have any recommendations on music appreciation? Books, (cheap!) courses, etc, would be helpful - I’m starting from nothing here.
