I call myself a writer but please don’t ask what I’ve been writing lately. I work outdoors so maybe I’ll use this thing to upload the odd photo and poor jokes.
@born_like_dis@devtesla Honestly that was the line that gave me pause and made me wonder if this was a creative writing piece. I mean it’s possibly still real and much more believable than most things on Reddit (this is Pulitzer worthy if you spend any time on r/aita): but like… still. Lol.
@C0URT_JESTER Honestly was disappointed when they redeemed her specifically because she’s a great concept before it. A villain so selfish she only views her own grief as mattering and forces it onto others. She sobs over ‘shattered’ pink diamond after shattering countless gems herself.
@toonzxy Ngl I dipped in and out of 2012 but the best episode I saw by far is when a blind April and still recovering Leo have to work together. Helps also that they are in the country and not the eerily empty NYC: but the characters are also genuinely fantastic. They are adorable.
@unav3rage_us3r Before any person gets to write Batman they should have to write a two page essay comparing him to Superman. If they go on about how much more ‘realistic’ Batman is and ‘more relatable’ he is: life time ban.
@Jahda_aaaa 1987: It was Leo as a kid but tbh it’s Raph now (though Leo is adorable). 2003: Leo 2007: Donatello 2012: Leo 2018: I love them all honestly but the Rise movie means Leo got that photo finish 2023: Leo!!! (He’s adorable) So yeah there’s definitely a pattern.
@toonzxy If you somehow love 2012 donatello and Casey yet hate that version of April you’re just a misogynist and that’s kind of that. All the characters suffered badly from writing issues but folks really show their ass in iteration crossovers lbr.
@9xShiny How Zuko ‘feels’ is irrelevant. He’s a fictional character. It’s how the show frames his decisions that more matters. The problem is that lok is isnt seeing it as ‘a horrible decision but the least awful one we had’ it’s just really shallow window dressing. Lok is shallow.
@9xShiny I guess what I mean to say is they made the choice to write the red lotus. If you’re going to make Zuko’s only choice be the torture prisons then work with that framing device, but don’t make it out to be no big deal especially given Atla and the FN prisons Hama was in.
@9xShiny The issue is the /writers/ didn’t have the capability to write about complicated issues. They invented the red lotus and all the lok characters after all and situations. They made the choice. You’re being weirdly hostile honestly so I’m not going to reply to you after this.
@Terryvanbank@nikoglis@Bolverk15 Oddly Zuko does seem the type of person not to think of the wider implications of shit or can have a very narrow lens with which to solve problems. I think the problem is canon not framing it as an issue. He’s an interesting character but the framing is sometimes off with him.
@Terryvanbank@nikoglis@Bolverk15 But like the torture prisons I kind of was like: really. Really. You’re going to make a worse prison than what Hama and southern waterbenders went through but make it ‘justified’. Ok show.
@Terryvanbank@nikoglis@Bolverk15 Kuvira wasn’t a monarch. But I think it’s more the fact the writers don’t think shit through. Like at all. They invented these situations and characters wholesale as this is fiction. It’s just the idea that Zuko smells of roses is an unproblematic king is silly.
