🚀 TeknoParrotUI 2.0 EXPERIMENTAL .NET 8 / Linux Update IS LIVE
Condensed cs, 113 changed files**.
🐧 Linux & cross-platform
TeknoParrotUI now runs natively on Linux and launches Windows games through Wine or Proton.
New Linux Setup page for dependency checks, Wine detection and GE-Proton management.
Global and per-game Wine/Proton runner selection.
Rootless evdev/X11/XWayland input, including multi-lightgun support without running the UI as root.
Added DirectX 9 libraries, Japanese locale/CP932 support and improved launch diagnostics.
Linux updates preserve executable permissions.
📦 Shared Wine/Proton prefixes
Added Default, Shared and Isolated prefix modes globally and per game.
Shared prefixes greatly reduce disk use instead of creating a separate ~1.5 GB environment for every title.
Japanese games use a separate shared environment so locale changes cannot affect other games.
Existing legacy prefixes remain isolated automatically.
Added prefix previews, safe resets and active-process checks.
🛡️ Architecture safety
Linux support is currently x86_64 only. ARM64 hosts are blocked before launch, downloads or prefix changes.
Fixed ARM64 Proton packages being selected on x86_64 systems.
Added architecture detection for ELF files, symlinks, scripts and sibling Wine binaries.
Added numeric GE-Proton sorting, compatibility labels and clearer errors.
Unknown or incompatible packages are never auto-selected.
🖥️ Gamescope scaling
Added experimental fullscreen scaling using -S fit, preserving aspect ratio with letterboxing/pillarboxing.
Added Wayland/X11 backend detection, monitor selection and global/per-game controls.
Automatic mode falls back to direct launch if Gamescope fails.
Old Direct3D games can receive a temporary windowed-mode override when exclusive fullscreen cannot work inside Gamescope. Saved settings stay untouched.
Scaling remains disabled by default pending wider testing.
🔄 Launch and relaunch reliability
Every launch gets a unique session ID, so only processes belonging to that game are tracked.
Force Quit and cleanup terminate only identity-verified session processes, never unrelated games or global Wine processes.
Shared-prefix services such as wineserver are preserved.
Reworked pipe helpers with isolated state, ephemeral ports, safe repeated shutdown and verified cleanup.
Fixed persistent loaders keeping sessions open after the real game exited.
Fixed stale helpers and repeated-launch cleanup failures.
Fixed a JVS shared-memory race that caused games to work once and then fail with an I/O error after relaunching from the same UI process.
JVS state now resets between sessions like an arcade power cycle.
🔔 Updates & releases
Added automatic 2.0.0.N versioning and a separate rolling TeknoParrotUI-net8 pre-release channel.
Added Windows x64 and Linux x64 packages.
TeknoParrotUI can self-update through ParrotPatcher, restart and show the changelog afterward.
Improved module-version detection on Linux.
🧰 UI & troubleshooting
Restored the Troubleshooting page in Avalonia.
Reports include hardware, OS, modules, Wine/Proton, Gamescope, prefixes, devices and the full timestamped launch log.
Private IDs/passwords remain censored. Reports can be copied or saved.
Newly added games are correctly reselected after saving settings.
Fixed the missing Exit/Close icon.
✅ Validation
Passing: 150 Gamescope scaling, 122 lifecycle, 104 Proton architecture, 60 pipe lifecycle, 54 Wine-prefix tests and 537 game profiles.
Real-game validation completed 20/20 in-process relaunches with full JVS traffic and zero stale pipe helpers.
This is a major foundation update for cross-platform TeknoParrot development. Linux support is functional, but remains an active testing build—please report game-specific issues with the new Troubleshooting report attached.
