As for the actual Okoye issue: this was never really about music. It’s about Peter’s wife, Lola , that’s where the P-Square breakup and the family fallout actually started. Peter chose his happiness over his family, which is a normal, human decision. The family, on the other hand, chose to stand by what they’d decided as a family, a decision only they and their late mother (rest in peace) truly understood.

Social media read that as tribal bias, because Lola is Yoruba, so many rallied behind her and Peter as the “oppressed” side. That’s really where Peter and Paul became “Mr P” and “Rudeboy” instead of just P-Square.

People forget the Okoyes have other elder siblings, extended family, and a kindred they come from. If they genuinely wanted to resolve this, social media was never the place, home was. Public opinion doesn’t heal families. It just makes the division permanent.

So, genuine question: is this really about Jude, or is it about all of us needing a new season of public trial by timeline?

Nigerians really haven’t learned anything from social media’s pattern, and the P-Square vs Jude saga is proving it in real time.

Peter Okoye (Mr. P) came out to share his grievances against his family, and that alone has opened the door for people to condemn the Okoye family at large, without knowing the actual depth of the story. The story is likely bigger than what’s been shown to us, but the case is already in court, and that’s where the real truth and verdict will come from, not Twitter.

Most Nigerians don’t have minds of their own. They join whichever bandwagon is loudest, and this case is no different.

Then there’s VeryDarkMan. Joining this trend isn’t new for him, it’s not even his tenth time, it’s simply how he stays relevant. He understands social media and knows exactly what he’s doing. What’s funny is watching his own fans now tell him to back out of the drama, as if this isn’t the exact same playbook that’s fed them content for years. Is it really about the method, or is it just because this time it involves their favorites?

Some are dragging him for telling Phyno what Peter privately confided in him about Jude and Paul, saying he shouldn’t have shared someone’s private information. But hold on, how did VeryDarkMan take down Nedu Wazobia? Wasn’t that the exact same thing: private conversations, recorded and shared publicly? Back then, people called him a hero. Nedu got dragged through the mud. So what’s changed now?

Most Nigerians aren’t ready for change or for the uncomfortable truth, and that’s exactly why people with influence keep using them for cheap engagement and easy money.

VeryDarkMan is VeryDarkMan. He’ll always chase the next trend. The real question is: are we willing to accept whatever angle he takes, even when it starts affecting us directly? Remember when he went after Blord’s iPhone business and imported his own instead, and we all cheered? Cheered for what, exactly, for helping take down another man’s business? Why hasn’t he opened a club or hotel, when hotels mark up drinks at some of the most outrageous prices in the country?

From trashing Igbo language to now being the victim.
