Monty, I just spoke to a top trial attorney who's a friend of mine.. The way this is all transpired for the prosecution is not good for the them. because even if they refile, Parker and his defense can use the right to a speedy trial act of Utah, and accuse the prosecution of only drawing things out. wish if their argument is strong enough, which it's not that far-fetched to make an argument of it, that refiling would be denied. also, if they refile and don't have any stronger evidence than they have today that also would be ground for a denial. So right now it's not looking good for the prosecution in spite of the fact they acted as though they had the smoking gun initially by smearing Parker and his reputation.

@HighlightsUte - someone can change their mind
- Wrong. He said “cracked her” after the fact. Just means they had sex
- She bragged to friends she had sex with a BYU football player
Your deranged hatred for BYU is crazy
If you block me, your soft
@n8rix@hankrsmith Personally, I don’t think there is a reason and that’s why the judge dismissed the case
I think they were intentionally delaying the case to drag into football season so he wouldn’t be able to play to get back at him
This also may accomplish that.Anything to not get it to trial
@n8rix@hankrsmith Oh I’m not trying to degrade her, it’s just a legit question.
I don’t see what could change in 4 months if it hasn’t gotten better in the past 18 and that’s the whole reason the kept asking for a delay
@n8rix@hankrsmith I think BYU students are held to a higher standard, but that doesn’t mean they can’t make a mistake without getting crucified for it
I hope BYU cares more about “what would Jesus do” than PR
@n8rix@hankrsmith I also think it could tarnish the reputation of BYU by not allowing an innocent person to play
Innocent until proven guilty as much as it’s a cliche, is a real thing
@n8rix@hankrsmith I guess we’ll see. Rumor has it that he had already resolved the sex issue with the HC office.
Brady Poppinga, who is close with the program, has certainly had some things to say about it. I wonder if that’s how people inside the program see it as well.
@n8rix@hankrsmith I would be deeply disappointed in Parker.
I would be fine that they allowed him to play because they went with his current status.
It could be refiled in 3 months, 2 years, 10, 20 years. There’s no reason to halt his life and wait for them to refile
