They were also selling 100g bags of ginger with about 3 - 4 tiny wrinkled, tired looking fibreous stumps (I’ll refrain from any crude Uncle Bulgaria Womble references). The onions and garlic were all soft so maybe it was just a bad day.

In the case of ginger it looks like they are just selling ginger knuckles in this supermarket. Couldn’t get a finger let alone a hand.
