@budget_sawyer I'm saying that different MAGA people have different opinions about different issues.
Absolute language isn't really appropriate when referring to a group of people with tens of millions of people in it imo
@budget_sawyer@dogbullets Do you think it's fair that a couple that makes 50k each in Vancouver doesn't get access, but has to pay for it?
For me, it's not as simple as "free dental care is good." The who and what of the plan are important considerations.
@budget_sawyer@_baljot Yes this is what I think is most fair. I don't think it's a bad idea just don't like that it leaves out a bunch of the middle class ppl who are paying for it. Middle class is struggling rn, which is why I said it could have been done better
@budget_sawyer@dogbullets It's not a small outlier, it's legit every retired boomer, regardless of savings.
This stuff isn't free. Future generations will pay for it.
I'm good with just poor ppl getting dental, but that's not what this is.
For example, I'm eligible since my firm is incorporated.
@dogbullets@budget_sawyer I'm just saying there are better ways it could have been done. It seems like a blunt tool for accomplishing what it does. I'm not opposed to low net worth seniors being covered, but that's not what it does. It's not virtuous to make everyone pay for Glens dental visits
@budget_sawyer Low income families is great but that is pretty low (45k each) and I don't think many people we know would benefit.
You said you can't afford a dental visit for years! I didn't know you had thousands of dollars of work to be done. Did you make less than 90k last year?
@dogbullets@budget_sawyer Yeah so unless you and Jenn cumulatively make less than 45k a year each, then this program is just you guys paying for Glen to get his teeth cleaned for free forever. That's how i read it at least
@budget_sawyer It costs like $200 to get your teeth cleaned! Pretty sure you can afford that.
I'm not loving that me and you are gonna be paying for Glen's and Mira's teeth cleanings.
Could have been done better imo.
@budget_sawyer K yes it looks like there is a timeline now.
It's still largely middle class ppl who don't own property paying for dental care of wealthy retired boomers until they die.
@budget_sawyer There's no timeline for that happening.
When it does happen, it will be only for people with household incomes of less than $90,000.00 (45k each).
Retired boomers with millions saved up will have m their dental care paid for by working class ppl that don't own any property.
