Hello everyone viewing tweets about the earthquake in Japan. If you would like to make an earthquake relief donation, please consider Second Harvest Japan. They've posted today that they are preparing aid for Noto (just as they did for Tohoku in 2011) https://t.co/WYWJKeC8At
Now that it's a day later and tsunami warnings have been dropped, I can be a bit more direct: if you see someone sharing a video of a tsunami destroying Japanese towns, it isn't a video from yesterday's earthquake.
Ishikawa prefecture was hit with a massive earthquake and devastating tsunami on the first day of 2024, and Yahoo Japan have just opened up a donation pool to support those that have been affected.
As someone who lives in Japan, loves Japan deeply and has had my home affected by natural disasters in the past, I feel its my duty to spread the word about this and try to help in any way that I can.
I have also donated to this campaign myself, and if anybody would like to do the same then please check out this link here: https://t.co/dBz1Ur62nz
I am currently trying to find some reputable donation campaigns that will work outside of Japan as well, so I will keep everyone posted if I manage to find one.
Stay safe everyone.
People underestimate the power of rushing water.
This is the effects of a 30 cm tsunami.
Ishikawa Prefecture is expecting 5M one.
Please stay safe.

@xojessrose I’ve only just discovered them about a week ago (don’t know how they flew under my radar for so long!), and love their stuff!
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Please be careful of people disingenuously posting clickbaity videos like the below from the 2011 Tohoku earthquake as if they are from current events.
While large, the present disaster is still nowhere near the scale of the quake and tsunami that hit Japan on 3/11.
Our accounts appear to have been rate-limited due to the frequent posting of information updates regarding the Ishikawa Earthquake and Tsunami.
We highly recommend that you download the NERV Disaster Prevention app in order to keep receiving updates.
