April means something different in our home. It’s not just Autism Awareness Month—it’s a reminder of the extraordinary strength, beauty, and brilliance that lives inside my son, Justis.
If you know him, you already understand.
If you don’t, let me tell you.
Justis is loving in a way that’s pure.
He’s kind in a way that’s instinctive.
He’s intelligent in ways the world doesn’t always slow down enough to see.
And he is awesome—beyond measure, beyond labels, beyond anything a checklist could ever capture.
Yes, there are barriers. There are moments when the world’s version of “normal” tries to box him out or misunderstand him. But here’s the truth: those barriers don’t define him. They don’t limit his spirit. They don’t dim his light.
He is strong.
He is resilient.
He is loving—every single day, no matter what the world throws at him.
And to anyone who feels unsure, uncomfortable, or afraid of what they don’t understand… breathe. Let that fear go. What you’re seeing isn’t something to avoid—it’s simply a different expression of humanity. A different rhythm. A different language of love.
Autism isn’t something to fear.
It’s a reminder that beauty shows up in countless forms.
It’s a call to be better—more patient, more compassionate, more human.
Justis is not a mystery to solve.
He’s not an obstacle to navigate.
He’s a person—an incredible one—wrapped in love, compassion, and kindness. A person who experiences the world in a way that is uniquely his, and profoundly meaningful.
This month, and every month, I celebrate him.
His courage.
His heart.
His joy.
His way of being in the world.
I’m proud of him.
I’m grateful for him.
And I’m better because of him.
💙 Here’s to awareness, acceptance, and the incredible people—like my son—who remind us what love really looks like.

Reds fan behind us keeps joking/asking beer vendors if they have Budwiser.
This latest beer vendor said yeah, and pulled out a water.
I love Milwaukee.
