UPDATE: Groundworks are underway for Jaguar Land Rover-owner Tata Group’s new £4 billion battery manufacturing plant at the Gravity Smart Campus in Somerset.

The £4 billion factory - one of the UK's largest ever industrial investments - is expected to create 4,000 direct jobs plus thousands more across the supply chain.

Scheduled to open in 2026, Tata’s first battery plant outside of its Indian home market will be run by subsidiary Agratas. With an eventual output of 40GWh, the gigafactory is set to provide almost half of the battery production that the Faraday Institution estimates the UK will need by 2030. #UKmfg🇬🇧
