Middlesbrough is finalizing a deal to sign Max Arfsten from the Columbus Crew.

The fee will be up to $7.5M including add ons, while the Crew will retain a sell-on clause. Arfsten is expected to travel in the coming days to complete his move to Boro.

Right answer. There are ~35k roster spots & 9k scholarships. 2nd behind track. So now you have 35k getting coaching, strength training, nutrition planning for the past 40yrs Other countries have pro clubs last 15yrs. BTW the USWNT dominance is fading.

I was thinking about this today. Everyone says pro/rel makes our players stronger, every game counts, but they are all just contributors on mid table teams making millions with no real chance to win/rel and bc they aren’t the stars and relatively cheap no pressure.

@USMNTTAKES One analyst noted after ‘22 that we just aren’t tough. He thought some of that might be due to our “best” players spending all their time in Europe. Older US teams may not have had the most talent but they had more grit and fight in them.
