Today’s confession?
I’m smack dab in the middle of the Baby Boomer generation.
You may remember my generation for our counterculture roots, as we were the ones marching in the streets, while we railed against the corruption of the establishment.
You may also know us as the generation that traded our long hair and idealism for suits, ties and seats in boardrooms.
We were the generation of perhaps the last great revival on the planet - the Jesus Movement. And yet, here we are - often cold, indifferent and unyielding.
Young ones, I am so sorry. On behalf of us Boomers, I’d like to apologize. Like most generations, we simply lost our way, but I still have hope. If the Lord determined that our generation would be smack dab in the middle of a great revival, I happen to believe that He may not be done with us.
To my generation I would say this. We MUST learn to access our memories. It’s truly as simple as remembering. And reconnecting. Don’t give up on us, folks. Many of us are like sleepers reawakening from our slumber. And I don’t believe Heaven is quite finished with us yet.
@elijahliststeve And that, apparently, is the new gospel story! My goodness, please repent for leading sheep down a false path that sees politics and a flag as the gold standard of the Kingdom.
I certainly hope you say these words to yourself while looking in a mirror. The way you have used the name of Jesus to enrich and empower yourself is a shining example of breaking the 3rd commandment - not taking the name of the Lord in vain. The good news? It's never too late to repent. To turn around.
