@MichaelDelGaldo Anytime someone mentions a BLT, I can’t escape wanting one. As for affordability… I think the majorities in Congress have already abdicated their role on that in exchange for a forever war.
We’re 9 days away from the AFL-CIO’s 30th Constitutional Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota!
This is union democracy in action — where the labor movement is coming together, building solidarity, and strategizing for the fights ahead for working people.
Since she was unable to join our earlier Pilgrimage, I am grateful that Stacy was able to meet Pope Leo, one of the most consequential leaders in our world and of my faith. It’s childish anyone would think otherwise.
A trip to meet the Pope is praiseworthy leadership, until a Black woman is the one making it. Then suddenly it's "missing in action." Same Vatican. Same mission for Chicago's workers. Different leader. Different headline.
That's not a coverage decision. That's a tell.
At Friday’s IIPD bd mtg, Bob Reiter, CFL President, spoke on the NLRB finding merit in ulp charges against QSL and the ILA, while finding no merit in the charge against Local 150. The facts are becoming impossible to ignore. Labor rights. Free expression. Accountability.
Today is about appreciating the care, sacrifices and support mothers provide their families every day.
We thank you and we’ll keep fighting for all working mothers so they have paid leave, equitable care and good union jobs.
Happy Mother’s Day from America’s unions! ❤️
Congrats to our Local 150 Brother, Bob Reiter, on his re-election to a 3rd term as President of the CFL. We also congratulate Secretary-Treasurer Don Villar on his re-election to a 3rd term. Both have done an outstanding job advancing & advocating for labor in Chicago.
Proud to stand alongside these awesome working men & women of organized labor at the Haymarket Memorial to commemorate May Day where it all began! We will always fight for working families! @chicagolabor@SEIULocal1@SEIULocal73@Local150
Jimmy Kimmel dug up some old videos of Stephen Miller from high school and yikes… he was a piece of shit then too! Maybe the reason he’s so hateful is because he got picked on by other kids. Could explain it!
Over the long-term, @cookcountyclerk Monica Gordon's could solve an endemic problem of trained, willing election judges in Cook County. Good job, to DaClerk. https://t.co/J7cSqLmBCX
This is why Rudy keeps finding himself in trouble. A clerical error doesn’t make those votes illegal, especially since all of the votes cast had been recounted and scrutinized. Illegal votes are those where someone did not have the legal ability to cast the vote. Rudy is a troll.
Well… labor has been at the table, in addition to being on the table. But maybe we can start with Alderman O’Shea returning my phone call and text messages. We can start there.
O’Shea: “I’m going to say something uncomfortable. Labor needs to be at the table. We are at a financial crossroads for the future of our city.”
says head tax is a “job killer” and city needs to “look more internally”
I urge Heads of State and the leaders of nations to listen to the cry of the poorest. There can be no peace without justice. The poor remind us of this in many ways, through migration as well as through their cries, which are often stifled by the myth of well-being and progress, which does not take everyone into account.
And then there were 8! ⚓️🏈
8A State Quarterfinal Playoffs tonight in the East Stadium! The Porters will be hosting Barrington at 6pm. Let's come loud and proud! @LTHSFootball @tkmedia09 #porternaion. #notdoneyet
As of today, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.
Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX
❌ This reporting is totally FALSE.
ICE agents did NOT target a daycare center or a daycare employee. They were attempting to apprehend an illegal alien who fled during a traffic stop, exited the car at a random shopping center, and tried to barricade herself in a Chicago daycare center. She was never a teacher or worker at the daycare facility.
Fake stories like this are why our brave @ICEgov agents have increasingly faced attacks & threats. Shameful.
@chicagobars@capitolfax@rtachicago@CapitolNewsIL Who all benefit from it. If you’ve been on the highway during rush hour recently, you’d notice that congestion is going through the roof. That impacts commerce, public safety, schools, and work. And mass transit is a public good.
Federal workers have worked without pay for a month. Rent and other bills are due. Insurance costs are about to double. Construction jobs are being cut.
President Trump: stop inflicting pain on workers.
Fund the government.
Fix the health care crisis.
Put working people first.
