The Economist has gone to shit under its current editor, Zanny Minton Beddoes. It used to be a bastion of concise objectivity. Now it reads like a Guardian colour supplement.

It unquestioningly regurgitates every bit of contemporary ideology, from net zero to the idea that mass immigration is an unalloyed good, even putting forward the suggestion that we have completely open borders as it would raise GDP (never mind shanty towns across the West, think of the numbers on a spreadsheet!).

The Economist espouses state intervention and also says that right-wing parties should be banned or neutered to preserve democracy.

Britain could reach its net-zero goals if we just hooked a turbine up to the Economists' founders and harnessed the energy of them spinning in their graves.

This decades-long degradation of a once vital institution is exemplified in this interview where Zanny, with all the objectivity of a high school Mean Girl, attacks Elon Musk because he isn't liked by some people.

No job.
The wives live as one “family” socially and religiously, yet legally the additional wives are treated as single mothers for benefits purposes.

And the result is multiple housing claims, child benefit for every child, and universal credit top ups.
The more wives and kids, the bigger the payout.

Meanwhile the British taxpayer gets the bill.

This is a good example of welfare arbitrage.
The state refuses to recognise the marriage on paper, then subsidises the exact same arrangement with public money.

Incentives matter, and the system rewards having as many wives and children as possible, as long as you don’t work.

BREAKING: DHS and DoT confirmed to us that Indian national Kuljeet Kang who allegedly kiIIed 23-year-old Sebastian Stone in a hit-and-run while texting, RENEWED HIS CDL LESS THAN TWO MONTHS AGO.

Here’s a video of him getting his CDL from Hawk Truck Driving School in IL without speaking a word of English and appearing to be driving while looking at his phone.

Kang is here on a greencard and will likely have it revoked if convicted.
