My final comments on the campaign.
I love this City. I was born here, went to school here, raised a family here and was blessed to serve this community. It's the people that make this City the envy of all others. That's why I am convinced Ottawa has a very bright future ahead.
Congrats to mayor-elect @_MarkSutcliffe. You ran a great campaign @cmckenney. I hope we haven't seen the last of you in politics. All the best to all the winners tonight and to those brave enough to put their name on the ballot.
Thank you to @cmckenney and @Bob_Chiarelli and @_MarkSutcliffe for putting fwd their visions for Ottawa. This has been a good debate, but whoever wins please reach out to the others. Good ideas are good, no matter who put them fwd.
A few thoughts going into the election. Settle in, this is a long thread:
The Ottawa Citizen in one breath dismisses my candidacy, reasoning that our austerity message didn't catch on in this government town. In another breath it warns of a coming recession. 1/13
When the voters of Ottawa go to mark their ballot, please remember that I have made only one financial promise: I will not raise taxes in the first year of my term to give my administration the time to put this City back on a solid financial footing. 13/13

freezing bus fares for four years that will cost the treasury more than $25 million in lost revenue to name just a few financial foibles that will put the City into an even deeper financial crisis. 12/13
