They’re not doing woke 2.0.
Woke 1 was 2012-2018. It was tumblr, Trayvon, triggleypuff.
Woke 2 was BLM, the ban-waves , covid.
What they’re doing now is dialing back 2.0 somewhat as tho what came directly before is the default.
I caught an episode of Louie season 1 (2010) and it really brought me back to that proto-woke period. It’s otherwise good but he’d glibly throw in “Whites are obviously shitty privileged douchebags” clapter bait. I remember back then thinking man there are a lot of young idiots who are grabbing onto this stuff bc it’s such an easy way to signal aspirational cultural affiliation .
Also tbf while I agree with the sentiment here, there are musicians still operating in that indie tradition, it’s just not hitting receptors & think it’s mostly bc they’re not speaking to the moment. They’re like hunkered down in their own spaces, repeating the same moves year after year
@sasimons Maron has always been a neurotic, self-serving creep. That was his entire bit. He was only ever funny to the extent he made fun of himself for it. He’s just butthurt bc no one likes his podcast anymore
"ADHD" was a fake disease invented as an excuse to drug young boys into oblivion so that they're more compliant in public school. Now white suburban women are coopting it, because this demographic has never met a fake disease they didn't want to hoard for themselves.
Yeah a disproportionate % of millennials believe they were “gifted” children. They read YA fantasy that pandered to that self-image. They enter adulthood , see actual excellence and the work that entails & then use their Hogwarts magic to diminish it so The Real Stars can shine
If no one is good enough to recognise excellence, then it will be torn down rather than encouraged. The generosity of spirit necessary for the recognition of talent in others is at odds with a resentful and envious worldview, which increasingly prevails.
@ABC Yeah his employer, the MD who prescribed him psychoactive meds & the local antifa have a lot to answer for. The guy was obviously a threat to others
Popular arts have always been parasocial, in that if you detect something in it that kind of supplements your self-image, it is “likened” to you. You will LIKE it. That’s why it’s so influential ~ ppl want to keep that relationship and can be nudged when they’re in thrall to it
Man kills his kids : “It’s deranged attempted vengeance against God or something”
Woman kills kids: “why did God make her do that He should be ashamed of himself”
No sane White man wants Islam in our countries, but the “street activism” against it is obviously a ZioRight operation meant to convince lefties, boomers and uninitiated White boys that the *hardcore Right* loves Israel
