It happened to us, just like it happened to Hungary, the UK during Brexit, and soon France. The russians can do this to your country, too. They can exploit this vulnerability anywhere there’s a democracy and a surplus of morons (hint: you probably live in such a place).

So, my question is, why demonize all Americans, even those who support Ukraine, because of what Trump is doing? Knowing that Putin and Trump are trying to divide NATO, why are certain NAFO fellas helping drive that wedge between America and Europe? Why are you doing Putin’s work?

Anti-MAGA Americans are fighting creeping autocracy: with the courts, with protests (that are being censored on social media, BTW), and politically. We’re doing way more than you realize, and we’re putting ourselves in danger to do it. We are also voting on November 3. We could use a little encouragement instead of blame.

Sanctions relief will continue. I think the diesel deal and the move regarding the Lindsey Graham Act are not the end of it. Unfortunately.

It’s unfortunate because we all had great respect for Lindsey. He devoted his life to America. We had an excellent relationship with him. And shortly before the tragedy, Lindsey was in Ukraine. He always supported us very strongly and pushed for as much assistance to Ukraine as possible.

It’s difficult without him, I’ll be honest. I want to thank both Democrats and Republicans who supported his bill. That was a major victory: this truly bipartisan support. And now, the decision to undo all of this, to block all of it, seems wrong to me. And it definitely helps only the Russians. It only fuels their satisfaction and their desire to keep killing people. This certainly does not stop the war.

Back in 2016, mainstream Republicans like Marco Rubio could still clearly diagnose the symptoms of authoritarian populism: the dangerous cult of personality, the promise of a 'strongman' who claims he alone can fix it, and the erosion of democratic norms.

They saw the playbook for what it was—reminiscent of the third-world demagogues they usually decried.

Yet, the most tragic irony of our time is watching these exact same politicians swallow every warning they gave, fall in line behind Trump, and watch their European far-right ideological counterparts embrace that very same brand of grievance politics.

Here is Marco Rubio in 2016, perfectly describing the monster his party decided to create, normalise, and ultimately surrender to.

I just watched the Musk Movie. It was 4 hours long. (@alexgibneyfilm) TY for putting in an intermission.) There was so much information. Its genre is documentary, but it could easily be put under horror also. It was a very good movie, but also psychologically terrifying.

I have to say the first hour of the movie, brought back memories of the old Elon. The one that my husband and I really liked. He was quirky, funny, smart, the first spacex successful launches were awesome, when Tesla was new, and everyone was excited about the electric cars, him working with Obama and him saying that AI was an existential risk. It was like he truly cared about the human race.

But then, he flips and turns into a villain. 😩 The last 3 hours he morphs into a psychotic megalomaniac. It was like an evil storm. The Tesla auto pilot starts crashing cars, killing people and then he lies about it & says how safe it is. He lost his shit during Covid with the lockdowns. His son transitioned into Vivian, and he said the woke mind virus needed to be destroyed. He went from AI being an existential threat & said it was summoning demons, to wanting to put an AI robot in every home. The government was regulating his businesses due to environmental concerns and he does not like being told what he can and cannot do.

I really believe part of the reason he went after our govt, to control it, was because of regulations they were putting on him and his companies. He realized to remove these regulations he needed to control politics. This is why our govt should not be able to be bought by the richest man in the world. The Ashley St. Clair part of the story is crazy! I’m glad she is exposing all these details. It was brave of her to tell her story. She could have easily signed the NDA and been rich, she decided to do the right thing. We need more people like this.

The doge part of the movie is devastating. Gutting really important humanitarian efforts, so many people, including children, around the world have died because of this. Halting scientific research projects, such as cancer research, that some have been working on for years. The purge of a lot of brightest and best from our govt departments, leaving dept frozen. Putting all our personal info in the hands of young kids who had idea what they were doing, who knows what will happen in the future now that all of info has been exposed. Cutting back at the EPA, surely helped his companies, but at what cost to our environment?

Watching the first quarter, he really could have been an amazing part of America’s history, but then he threw it all away and chose to be a villain. Why risk the future well being of America, especially when you have so many children? He says children are the future, yet the administration HE installed is dangerous and threatens our future. It makes no sense.

It’s like he has lost all empathy for others. Maybe he’s high all the time, which means we have a drugged up psychopath, who doesn’t care about anything but his own personal endeavors, no matter the consequences, and that same person is in charge of our government. What could go wrong? We left the movie scared about the future of the whole world.

Zelenskyy simply and accurately explains why giving up the Donbas won’t end the war:

And what will happen if we fall? How many people, I don’t know, maybe twenty million Ukrainians, will come to Europe?

Because Putin will destroy our homes and force us out. For me, this is absolutely clear.

That’s why we are standing strong, defending our country. Yes, with pain, with huge losses.

That’s why we are asking: stop the killing. And as I have heard so many times from POTUS, 'they have to stop the killing.'

Russia is killing us on our own territory. They came onto our land and keep pushing further.

They do not want to stop. They do not even want to freeze the war, as you can see.

So, do you think what Putin really wants is just the eastern part of our country? No. It will never be enough for a person like him."
